This is an epic question that has yet to be satisfactorily answered! Most people lately have been saying no since it would mean that Avatar: the Last Airbender is not anime. While I've never seen Boondocks considered one before, I think you're on to something. Either way, in the end does it really matter what exactly classifies as anime?
Back, by popular demand! Now with new avy.
I dont consider them to be anime, I categorize them as cartoons (big difference between Akira and Spongebob).
The whole animation style is different.
I personally hate the animation for avatar.
I love the boondocks though .. so funny.
Avatar is an American anime, while The Boondocks, while hilarious, would be considered a cartoon, similar to Family Guy or South Park.
The first one, no. The second, yes.

I'm not a fan of Avatar: the last Airbender I love Boondocks, I have seen Boondocks and while it's drawn in a anime style it's american made.
Whoa whoa whoa... South Park is NOT a cartoon.
So what, it has to be made in Japan to be considered anime? I call bullcrap on that. Our own dear Pengin-san declared that the country of origin does not matter in the AF Podcast, and I'm sticking to it.

No.
Avatar: The last Airbender is an american/korean cartoon.
I think someone on CR said that other one is a cartoon.
Though, if you ask a japanese person or an anime creator they would call it anime, becaus they call all cartoon for anime :P
But I still don`t classify it as anime, since it`s not made in Japan.

Pfft, neither are anime. The Boondocks is just another cartoon on [as] and Avatar is only similar to anime. Kinda like the Teen Titans.

❝you're horribly facinating.❞
"South Park is an American animated sitcom "
From Wikipedia.

By my standards, no; by some other peoples' standards, yes.

So what about manga made in Korea? Are we not allowed to call it manga? Then why is it in the manga section of Barnes & Noble?

so if it has to be made in japan to be anime, what if a japaneese person went to america and made one is it still not anime, or one made in japan by an american.
i would have thought that any thing of the same style would have b een considered anime.
I may not be able to precisely describe what the prerequisites to anime are, but I know it when I see it; and avatar, is not anime.
The Brighter the Light the Darker the Shadow
If only the requirements for anime was as easily defined as those for manga.
Avatar is animated by Koreans, thus it's not an Anime.
And comics made by Koreans are K-Comics, lawl...not Manga.
