Simpsons.... Yea a Simpsons thread.. Bart vs Lisa.

Yay, I haven't seen much discussion on this comedy cartoon!. My question is simple, but yet more complex. Do you consider Bart or Lisa a bigger supporter character in the Simpsons? See my gut is going with Bart on this one, but the more I think of it I consider Lisa a bigger character then him.

Well, Bart is basically the archetype of "rebel without a cause" and is a pretty big staple to the show. So if you're going by importance to the show it's self, him.

The attitude change has morphed over the years because the show has been on the air so long, that it's actually over reached and spilled over into the next generation. lol

The original structure of the Simpsons was "baby boomer parents with Gen X kids". Obviously, this has long been over. The newer episodes just feel.. well.. there's just something not right about the feel of them.

The newer episodes are fine. Sure they're not as great as the older seasons but they're still incredibly enjoyable. Though I'd argue Homer and Marge (outside of many first meeting retcons) haven't changed at all. Lisa has a bit, but not much, and Bart has, like you said he was supposed to be a generation x kid. Hell, the bullies aren't even really bullies anymore.

Lisa drives almost all intellectual story lines, and is a frequent author avatar (for better or worse).
Bart drives stories by being an annoying twerp with ADHD. The show already has one idiot in Homer. The only thing Bart contributes is occasional Wesley Crusher-ness.

Lisa is a wannabe nerd who only thinks subjectively and constantly moralizes.
Bart is one of those stupid kids who think that hating education and being stupid somehow makes them cool.

If they were real people, I would hate them both equally.
Since they are fictional characters, I say Lisa; all Bart-centric episodes are essentially two or three story lines played over and over again.

Yes, but I was just pointing out that Lisa centered episodes are just as bad as Bart centered episodes in terms of reused plot anchors.

Well... basically for me it's Southpark > Family guy > American dad > Futurama >>>>>>> Simpsons...

But I like some episodes with Lisa and the jazz for example.
