Display search results as posts

Is there any way to do that now? Often I'm looking for a specific post, as opposed to just knowing which many-paged threads the post I'm looking for might be in.

click on advanced search, then "single content type" pick search type as posts and at the bottom of that screen you can select to show results as posts instead of threads.

Thanks! It can't seem to find old posts, but I imagine that's something you're aware of.
