FUNNY VOICES Improvisational Comedy and Voice Acting Competition

Funny Voices is a contest developed by CreatiVoices Productions and Society of Young Voice Artists of the Philippines that combines voice acting with stand-up comedy. It aims to promote voice acting as an art in a fresh exciting way by bringing comedy into the scene, and who doesn’t like comedy?
For those who are not familiar with improvisational comedy, the general... idea is that everything on stage is made up as things move along. Not only will it require you to be funny, but also to know how to use the situation to make it funny.

Mechanics:

1. Open to individuals aged 16 and above.

3. Accepted registrants will proceed to CreatiVoices Productions Studios in Makati City for the second stage of the screening process. There, they will be asked to perform in front of a panel of judges. Contestants will be notified of their audition schedule through the contact details provided in their application
4. Ten contestants will be chosen to perform on September 19 at The Best of Anime 2010 where the best overall performer will win it ALL!
5. The winner will receive an Php 8,000 scholarship to the most prestigious voice acting and dubbing workshop, Voiceworx! where he/she will undergo training with the dubbing industry’s most renowned directors, including Danny Mandia, Neil Tolentino, and Alexx Agcaoili. The winner will also automatically become an official voice talent of Creativoices Productions.

CONTEST DETAILS PER STAGE

Contest Auditions

1. During the auditions, contestants will be formed into a group. The number of the members in each group will be within the range of 2-4, depending on the total number of people auditioning.
2. Each group will play an improvisational game chosen at random by the judges.
3. Auditions will be held in CreatiVoices Production Studios in Makati City.

Contest Proper

1. The Funny Voices contest consists of a dynamic multi-tier elimination system, each consisting of three improvisational games each running 5-7 minutes with four contestants each tier. This system aims to eliminate contestants until four are left for the Funny Four Finals.

2. During the end of each round, the judges will rate the performance of the contestants.

3. The judges may choose to eliminate any number of contestants below the total number of contestants per round. They may also decide to not eliminate any contestants each round. The succeeding games, and hence the continuation thereof, will depend on the remaining number of contestants.

4. By default the first game will be “Questions Only”. The second and third games will be chosen at random.

5. The language used each games will also be chosen randomly or will depend on the theme, either Filipino or English.

6. There will only be a maximum of three games per tier for the contest. Regardless of the remaining number of contestants left in the last game, the judge will be required to choose a winner.

b. Stage Presence
c. Voice Acting
d. Group Cooperation
