MP2K is gonna flip. The guys from Buzzard made another huge mistake against their fans. They say they want everyone's real ID to prevent trolling, but trolling isn't serious enough to require this. Point is: they want our real dox, and we all know what really for.

A)Old news is old, they already canceled it.

B) It was a decent enough idea. Basically, if you posted on the WoW forums already there was a very good chance you could be tracked down by casual perverts/trolls with only a little effort. The risk of posting your name alone isn't that much greater. For example, if I told you my full name was Michael Lincon (last name not true) and you knew nothing else about me (A/S/L, hobbies, etc), unless you google a twitter post or facebook page that connects that name to my screen name on WoW or here you'd be hard pressed to find me. The sorry fact is, most people fail at internets security, or have friends that fail at it, so googling any serious player's handle has a decent chance of turning up their info anyway.

Basically, the net effect is that it would have prevented Blizzard forum trolls from creating level 1 toons to troll on. You'd be able to see all of their toons and that would incline people away from trolling in general terms, short of srsbzns trolls that are willing to buy vanilla WoW and pay another $30/2mo to troll on an account with the name Hairy Crotch on their billing info.

I've heard this thing for some time going around, there's a guy with his website, The Cynical Brit (cynicalbrit.com), who brought this up in his radio show, he said to that it was a "weapon" against trolling, but also, he didn't care, he didn't care if someone knew his name, niether do i, the idéa itself was intended to be good, but when many didn't appericiate it, they canceled it(did they?), no more whining, and trolls are now dancing in their villages laughing and having jolley moments...

That didn't take them long to cancel it. And while Manhatten does have a point, I'd still be against something like this. Either way you look at it it violates a persons right to privacy. Instead of real names they should just make it so accounts list all the players chars on the forum. You'd get the same effect but wouldn't need real names.

Well since AGES back, it's been all trolling and so, TotalBiscuit mentioned that even in VANILLA, it was a HORRIBLE community, damn bastards(in the Brittish dialect), i think Blizz tried to do it to make the community better, but it was a HORRIBLE-FAIL, since ingame, WoW is starting to go a more immature way on, WAY more immature "kids" joining(i'm a kid to, but i'm not one of those who starts to whine for barely a reason at all), they need to fix atleast, SOMETHING to make it better, b4 Wrath, in Burning Crusade, then people was WAY MORE nicer to others, cause i used to play TBC, ingame was such a relaxing place, now it's all stressy cause SOMEONE was STUPID enough to make a AddOn with GEARSCORE, that now has screwed up the game, even more, same with Achievments, Blizz NEED to fix the ingame people FIRST, then forum IMO, cause seriously...

Gearscore isn't really an issue in my opinion, before GS people just inspected you for pretty much the same results: if you had bad gear you weren't coming. It's less flawed then every other method of filtering people out of your PUGed raids: it's faster then inspection for more accurate results [well, WoW heroes is more accurate, the addon is meh), it's less stupid then achievements since there even worse at filtering out carried bads, and most other easy numerical methods of filtering people are even stupider (health pool, avoidance, mana pool [outside of holy paladins, anyway], spell power). Of course, actually running groups and watching people is better for determining their worth, but very few people care about GS in guilds and when pugging people they know.

Also, what exactly is bad about achievments? At best they're fun excuses to do what you were going to do anyway and at worst they are completely optional and ignorable.

Well, using my web intuition, I have to ask if the toon you're talking about is Taloth the paladin from The Maelstrom-EU, and if so I'm gonna have to say after looking at your gear* that you aren't geared for ToC and it's no mystery why people would ask you for proof that you've already done it. I have nothing against casuals, being largely one myself, but if you want to get into basically any PUG you have to finish your triumph badge grind at the very least. Even if you are geared enough for ToC (which is debatable, since I had 400 more GS then you have now and it was still hard to avoid getting 2 shotted from the damage some of the bosses could put out) you'd be having threat problems from people in ICC gear.

The RealID situation was for the forums and the in game communication system.

As of this morning at eight am, they will no longer require the use of real id to post on their forums. But the friends of friends security thing is still on, and a lot of people, especially celebrities, females, and parents of young children, want it removed.

Using Wow Heroes I can look at the gear you were wearing when WoW Heroes last saw you log out in prot spec, which is what I was basing my opinion on. If the gear shown was at all accurate (and in retrospect, it probably isn't since the last time it saw was refreshed when you were logged out in prot was 2/1/2010) you're pretty under geared for ToC and very under geared for Toravon in VoA. That said, basically the only excuse to run VoA is for shields because the trinkets there are harder to get then Corroded Skeleton Key and less awesome. Even more so with the capes since Sentinel's Winter Cloak is BIS outside of heroic mode for every tank. Basically every other slot you can fill with 232s from triumphs and ICC 5 mans, and with that frost badge gear and 5 man drops you should be super-over-geared for ToC and geared enough to pug into ICC 10s that don't plan on killing more then 6 bosses (which is where the difficulty increases). Not sure if they happen on your server, but it might be worth trying to get into a GDKP (auctioning off gear and then the proceeds are split among the raid) for ICC 25 as a healer, assuming your gear isn't horrible in Holy and you are capable of farming gold to buy gear.

I had to read three times to see the point.
If we go into the Gearscore factor agian, my GS IS enough, i saw on a forum, prolly WoW Heroes, that GS req. is 4600 which is my prot GS, my holy is around 4,2k, i can tank Toravon good, and i can tank all ICC 5 mans on heroic good, if i tank, it's never a whipe.
In holy it's abit harder, i used to raid heal alot when i was MS'd holy for ages ago, but it got rusted up hardly, and now it's going back, but my prot skills is still intact, i practically never loose aggro(expect another tank or a DPS poppin' every CD), my health would be 32,6k, 43.65% avoidence and 558 def rating, but since i'm a fast writer and have my fingers right on the keyboard, i can easely pop my shielding skills very fast to reduce damage by a 25%, and then pop my holy shield so i get high block, but i think that even IF my gear right now isn't enough, i think my skills for tanking would be a benefit to it, so it can go on the higher chance OF survival, right now i spent my frost badges on primordial saronite for around 600g, since tomorrow i pop a weekly raid and some random HC's, will benefit ALOT and more money/gear.
If i give my best shot, i would be able to farm some thousands gold in just a week(right now, i'm leveling enchanting), but i need at first get 360% speed fly skill AND northrend cold fly to do daily's, also, ICC 5 mans is pretty retarded, since it's hard on Heroic, but nothing i can't manage.(long list is long lol), i'm a no lifer, so if i take that to the limit i should be able to go on and push the gear hard on, but if i do it to hard, i might end up selling stuff in desperate need of money, but, if you could give me a detailed list on what i would need and where to go i would be grateful(since i'm one of those idiots who can't find the right way or where to begin <.<). fast ninja edit: I saw WoW Heroes, that list is NOT the gear i use right now, i have WAY better than most of those right now.
