Halo Reach. Fail or win?
How many are looking forward to playing it here? I am. I wasn't a big fan of Halo wars and Odst at all. But it seems like this game will bring me back into the Halo fanbase.
Opinions?

-FMA18-New signature soon, hopefully. =3
I think it's fail. Really I thought the halo franchise went downhill after 3 but this game just seems ridiculous. If the MP Beta was any sign of whats to come i can honestly say there are plenty of better games to spend my money on. It's not only the fact that it was a pretty flawed system in the beta which is of course to be expected but the new additions just seem like too great of a change. Also I am not pleased with the removal of the BR.
Set made by me
"Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's going to burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm going to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
I personally gave up on Halo when I started finding spelling errors in the plot. The story hasnt been very consistent either, nor is it very believable, even though its set 500 years in the future.
I gave up on Halo after 2's cliff hanger and definitely ended at 3 when I realized that 2 had just been copy pasted and renamed. Nothing about Reach tells me that Bungie is thinking outside the box they have already made for themselves. Even the book sucked.
Not really interested, a trilogy = 3 not 6, I may give it a chance a couple of months after release, I'm really sick of FPSs.
Fail. Looks/plays a lot like ODST = epic fail. :P
And, Halo is just getting too old/boring.
I downloaded the beta and I didn't like it. I really don't like the idea of the abilities (sprint, jetpack, etc). I still think Halo one was far superior to the others.

I was excited for Reach simply out of fandom (huge Halo fan). The whole idea of them making a game based off of the stories of the many battles for Reach seemed like an awesome idea, being that I've read all the books/comics/etc. that express all the stuff Reach goes through (which contains a lot of great stories in comparison to the video games). After playing the beta, the whole concept of the gameplay has got me even more excited to play Reach.
Infact, I just preordered the legendary collection today.
Halo reach is still the second most played game on live and it had the top spot for a good year and a half. "Halo: Reach" represents an enormous evolution for the genre-defining "Halo" games, and is testament to Bungie's 10 years of experience crafting amazing experiences.
There was no Xbox Live on it though, how are you supposed to play it with your friends that are like 300 miles away from you?
I did too.
After watching Multiplayer Videos, I interested my to see how the story will go. I'm really interested in the world of Halo.

Yeah, maybe, but... It's not about The Fall of Reach or anything else already released. It's a different albeit coinciding storyline.
Why do so many concern themselves with the multiplayer? Halo's main storyline, if you're enough of a fanatic to actually find it all, as parts are buried in the games away from the main gameplay, is like an impossible meeting between Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. After playing the beta, the whole concept of the gameplay has got me even more excited to play Reach.
Where was that? I know of a few in complimentary material, but it's no more than you'd expect from a typical paperback.Originally Posted by Serated

How so? I'll admit, it's unusually complex, to the point of occasional confusion for the audience, but other than cosmetic stuff- character designs changing superficially with each game, etc.- I know of no gaping plot hole or contradiction. The story hasnt been very consistent either,
By tone, the first game's plot was different (I say crap), but that tends to be the case with firsts. You don't show every trick if you don't know that it won't fail miserably.
What story with superluminal travel and alien civilizations is?nor is it very believable, even though its set 500 years in the future.
You don't know the whole plotline then. They aren't the same at all.I gave up on Halo after 2's cliff hanger and definitely ended at 3 when I realized that 2 had just been copy pasted and renamed.
Halo 2 concerns itself, at first, with boring stuff like an invasion, but turns to the wholesale collapse of a society and genocide, among other things. It covers itself with deceit, power struggles and defection.
Halo 3 is, among other things, the completion of that collapse, revenge, and yet another cliffhanger (if you beat the whole game, that is). There's also a tremendously important plot available about the Forerunners' end, but, again, you have to go out of your way to find it in gameplay. If you manage to get ahold of all of it, and if you evaluate the entire storyline from scratch with it in mind, it more or less implies an ancient artificial intelligence has caused maybe half of the important events in the series' plot for the purpose of rebuilding itself.
It's worth noting, though, that Halo 2 was planned to cover the events depicted in 3 as well, but it would've been a multi-disk game and Microsoft wasn't willing to wait to get it completed, so split it up.
Again, the events of the game are supposed to coincide with but not directly address the book's events, if Bungie's comments on the matter are to be believed. They're just on the same planet at roughly the same time.Nothing about Reach tells me that Bungie is thinking outside the box they have already made for themselves. Even the book sucked.
Besides, thinking outside the box too much gets you something like Star Wars's prequel trilogy.

Really, though, Microsoft had better not run with the series again for a while, 'cause they are dancing very close to overexposure as it is.
On the other hand, since Halo is the only cash cow they have for gaming, if they don't beat it to death their whole gaming division could die off, and Halo could be up in the air indefinitely with what seems to me an incomplete but oh-so-close, nearly finished plot.

Halo...lol. I got my 360 mainly for halo 3, and when it hit i was like...wut. ODST nearly made me vomit, so I'm not even gonna bother with Reach. If it's free then I'll take one. If not then it's just another Gears of War/Modern Warfare/any other 360 fps out there. Come on Microsoft, add a little variety.
I searched for this thread for one reason, and one reason only. I'm looking for more people to play Halo: Reach with. You see, my real life friends, who I usually play reach with, have fallen way by Black Ops, which they swore they wouldn't buy/touch/steal/play. So I'm kind of all alone on the Halo front. my gamertag is BrodyGF. My bungie link is as follows
http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/De...player=BrodyGF
I'm also looking for some people to complete halo 3/odst achievements with, if anyone's interested. PM me, add me, etc. ^_^
I take it back. Reach is utter crap.
The gameplay is fine, if that's what you're in it for, but it retroactively destroyed huge chunks of what was previously important continuity, didn't provide a new framework to replace it, and left a gaping chasm in the storyline.
Greedo shooting first has nothing on it.
Only thing I really like about Halo Reach is almost no campers, since there aren't any real camspots.
Played it for a couple months and got bored. Multiplayer is fun but only with friends now. Can't seem to get into it if I'm playing it alone now. DMR to the face a few times then move onto the next person, and that's all multiplayer was to me.
thats my favorite game since halo one whats everyone's favorite game that they played on Xbox or xbox 360
I really like Beautiful Katamari for the 360 and I still really like Jet Set Radio Future for the Xbox.
Thanks for the sig Xey Oiz ^.^
