Return
I pick up sticks in autumn
and arrange them in little piles.
Catch the leaves as they fall to the ground,
and shiver as cold wind begins to blow.
When winter begins I pull out a shovel,
then put on a warm jacket to match.
Cover my nose as I run through the snow,
wake early to go catch the bus.
Spring is like a newborn child,
a wondrous sight to be seen.
Stand outside as the rain beats the ground,
then dry when the sun comes back out.
When summer comes a smile appears,
the time you return is almost here.
Go to the place where it all began,
and pray for your safe arrival.
Whisper the words of so long ago;
a promise that won't soon be forgotten.
Because when tomorrow comes and you return,
My empty heart will be filled once again.
Welcome home. . .
