Would you let your kids become Pokemon masters?

Let's assume we lived in a world where Pokemon are real. Would you let your 10 year old son or daughter abandon their home to become a Pokemon master?

I personally wouldn't. What if the job market for being Pokemon masters dries up, what will they do then? They won't have any other special skills other than being Pokemon masters.

Sure why not. I would want my kids to feel like they got what they wanted out of life. It would brake my heart to see them go but at the same time I would be so proud.

Funny story. So I just got Pokemon HeartGold in the mail today, and while I was walking around in the tall grass, I suddenly started wondering what it would be like if Pokemon were real.
Like when wild Pokemon jump out at you. You basically hurt them for no reason just to train yourself, and then you just leave them. Talk about being used!

Anyway, that was a little irrelevant to the topic. However, this IS relevant:

Kids set out to become Pokemon masters at age 10, right? That's ridiculous. They aren't even legal driving age, no matter what state in the US you are talking about. They haven't even reached puberty or experienced life living by themselves in any way. Perhaps Pokemon world is a world without murderers and rapists. But even so, there are still evil people out there. Like Team Rocket. They'll steal your Pokemon fo real, yo. And they stalk you.

Also, they don't acquire any real schooling while "traveling" as a Pokemon Trainer. Since they leave at the age of 10, that pretty much leaves them with, what, a 4th grade education? No matter how great of a Pokemon Trainer you are, I'm still going to laugh at your lack of ability to read Shakespeare.

Yeah...if evil organizations can be foiled by a ten year old kid, I don't think the world really has anything to worry about. What the world should be worried about is the kids themselves. As for the schooling, people in that world seem to know what they want to do. Or in the case of Gary find out what they really want to do by traveling with pokemon.

I always figured if Pokémon were real then Ash might have died in the first episode, what with being electrocuted and all. The world of wild Pokémon is no place for a child. Plus, it`s just irresponsible parenting and I would be promoting capturing wild animals for amusement and forcing them to battle. No dice.

Shame on those parents trying to live out their lost dreams through their kids. Yeah, that's right send out your kids reaalllly young to do the bidding hoping that they'll be able to pay for your retirement and take care of you in old age because your 401(k) is rubbish.

Plus, Why do we so despritely need to "catch them all"? Isn't 3 or 4 enough. Gosh, what ever happend to Life in moderation...? How many Cars- er, I mean pokemon are you going to need in life?

I'd probably be in complete conflict and while I'm so deep in thought my kids would probably just take off, change their name and become a pokemon master anyways. Yup that is probably exactly what would happen sadly! Besides that's what I would if I was the kid!!!!!!

Eh... 10 is very young to just run around by yourself, but if that's what they really wanted to be then I probably would let them. I'd have to think long and hard about that one though...

Well for starters, if I had a 10 year old kid something would be really wrong...
But once I do possibly have one, I probably would if they reeeeally wanted to and called me everytime they beat a gym leader

A 10 year old going across several countries? On foot? With nothing but Pokemon, random friends they met on the road, and a dream? Of course not. they can sit in the living room and just play Pokemon games like the rest of us.

I would imagine that they (the government) will impose all sort of laws, paperwork and permits need to catch, train and breed these Pokemon. They (the creator and producer) would not touch on the matter in the franchise since it will make the show too complicated to the target audience[sic], never achieve the popularity they had gain today.

So, the question to your answer is no. I would allow my kids to keep these critters as pets or train them as a hobby. They need to finish their high school first before pursue their dream a Trainer.
