When does being shy and awkward cross over into being creepy? Is it when a person refuses to answer a question because "they're too shy"? Or is it something completely different?

As a shy dude and knowing a few shy people its when you don't interact at all is when its creepy. I don't have the courage to go up to people to talk to them but if someone says somehing to me I'll reply and try to get into a conversation. Its when you can't even say anything is when its creepy.

Well, I used to consider myself shy, but then I wasn't so much. Now I'm just creepy, according to some.

I used to sneak up on people, unintentionally, so I guess I crossed the line into being creepy while I was shy.

But when someone is too shy to answer, I wouldn't call that creepy. I would call that being in need of social contact.

I'm pretty introverted/socially inhibited, but I don't know if it's "shyness" or some sort of social anxiety. Usually i'm pretty quiet, but that's about it. It's just the way i've always been.

They always say to be careful of the "quiet" ones, but I don't think that applies to me. I have no homicidal tendencies. ^_^

It's only creepy when some guy is to shy to talk to this girl, and he just stares at her. I have a friend that does that. It is really creepy. But I don't think it's the same as being shy.

I've actually had an experience like that, with a guy, and I'm a guy, who isn't homosexual, or even bisexual...disturbed me greatly.

Yes it was unintentional. There were a few people I talked to when I was in my 'shy phase' and when I wanted to talk to them I would walk up to them. I didn't really have much a a presence, so to speak, so most never noticed me walking towards them.

Not to like annoy any shy users here but sometimes really shy people can annoy me. I hate when I'm the only one who can actually start a conversation with the person and they only talk if I say something first. I can see where the shy people come from but at least manage to hold a conversation up. Personally I have no problem talking to other people and I actually enjoy being the person who talks during presentations.

Well, no one can say for sure if someone will be interested in what someone says or not until they say it, but someone who doesn`t talk often might assume people would uninterested in what they have to say, so they figure why bother and they shut up. People reason that way - I sure do when I`m not sure if anyone would be interested in the things I`m interested in, so why bother talking about it? It`s not that I, or these other quieter people, don`t believe that what they have to say isn`t worth saying, but they wonder who`s the right audience and who would genuinely listen to it and take an interest in it. If I went and talked to you about my experiences in graduate school for teachers, horror movies, make-up, chess, cats, nihilism, or my favourite cartoon as a kid, would you care?

I think shyness is acceptable to an extent. It gets creepy when they never say anything at all ever. It's also damn annoying when they mumble all quiet through their hoodies. It's nonsense. No one's voice is that damn soft.
