Why in English dub only mentioned when clearly there's multiple dubs and not everyone in here are/lives in the US? I prefer the Spanish(Which I actually understand, since it's my native language), and German dubs after the Original Japanese.

can you really blame US dub's?
you tell me if you where young and 4KIDS where still dubbing them would you not enjoy the goofy Chopper voice???'couse i did..now of course if i watch it now i hate it because i'm 17 now.but back then i liked the way it was..
so don't complain about US dub's because 4KIDS are trying give kids goofy sounding anime..

This comic sums up what I think of 4Kids. It's not just the voices. They gut the entire anime. Changing and taking out more then they should. Prime example is Yu-Gi-Oh. The Japanese and US versions of the anime might as well be two entirely different animes.
i know that they take it ALL. but still you cant blame all the US dub's..

I don't, just any they have have done. I prefer the Dragon Ball series dubbed, Ruroni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Mythical Detective Ragnarök, Tenchi Muyo and many others dubbed.
haha good
'cause i love dubbed anime and when i here people bash it because 4KIDS dub anime i get alittle pisted off..

Nope, 4Kids is just terrible. Look at Yu Yu Hakusho. That's perfectly fine for kids to watch. And I'll admit a few things got changed in it but it's mainly things like swearing. Which is fine since it doesn't change the story or characters at all. Though I wouldn't let a young kid watch the original Dragon Ball but I think that one speaks for itself.
yeah i know..i havent watch any 4KIDS anime sence one piece but i read about some of it..

Japanese being my native lanuage I prefer the original more so than the dubbed. Some of the dubbed voices are like way out there and don't even match the character. I've seen some dubbed anime were I thought to myself that the voices are okay enough for me to watch but some voices are just too annoying for me. Tsutomu from Birdy the Mighty; horrible voice. One Piece; hated it. Yu-Gi-OH; ugh e-o. Man, there are so many that suck, I can't even name them all.
But don't get me wrong, I'm not saying all dubs are bad, there are some good ones out there but there are also the bad ones. LOL
Yeah, i don't have anything really against english dubs, but like with Dragon Ball Z, i saw it ALOT, when they didn't match up.
But, like before i even started watching Japanese versions, i watched entire seasons of Naruto and Bleach, until I caught up to the episodes that didn't have english Dubs. Thats when i really got into the whole "Japanese" screen play.

There's things that aren't meant to be dubbed^^ Especially 4:37 and so on.
And think how much Roaring Tides(the song played) will not fit with the English dubbed scene.
I so loved this scene.

Voted Original Japanese
- - - - sorry for the anime examples or well whatever they are - - - -
oh well. while even bothering looking here. like most other anime geeks / lovers well eh. you name it. i hate dubs pretty much aswell
1, makes the anime look so original, like it's something lame. there just got throwed out to be bought and fired up after. (in other words burned to ashes, like pokemon / digimon / naruto / one piece / and more..)
2, the voice makes me get headache and is really boring (especially when german / english / danish / well eh your home country voice). it's not even worth watching when it comes to a lang. you pretty much use everyday.
3, most of the dubs, i've seen (not much), and heard. is so lame. that when you watch on the character. the mouth keep moving, at times when it's not suppossed to, if it's subbed to english or other language.
4, ofcouse im in for japanese, becouse it's basically a challenge for a "non japanese undestanding person, who wants to learn it, or just try to learn it". include it gives you some grammar challenge and makes it more fun watching it.
5, for my own opinion. i'd say. japanese anime / cartoons etc. whatever their name is. it's better to have the original language. lets say beyblade (lame example). it's made in japan or so. then let it be like that. and do subs for it instead. otherwise it's pretty much lame just to heard on or listen to. eventually you'll prolly get anoyed of it. beside if you dont really go into details like i do.
6, aswell dubs lovers, no hard words / feelings to you. just that. im a dub hater and will always be. can't stand the translated dubs. their horrible in more than 1 way.
7, include when they like performing something, it's way horrible, if like a bird flys over the person and the 1 says something in jap (way longer), than the english is. it's like... lame?...
8, even through the voice sometimes it fits. most of the times the voice itself sounds horrible and somehow wrong...
anywho. just what i tihnk. might not be much. but well eh. here you go ?
(never really got into much english writing, so be gentle about my lame grammar)

I voted for original Japanese, because dubs normally have horrible English voices (although in some animes this is not the case). The mouths move at weird times, and I've just always disliked English dubs.

I don't like watching naruto and shippuden in japanese with english subtitles. What's the use use when I don't even understand this language lol?
english dubs OWN SUBS! the only crap part i hate about english dubbed anime is that the dialouge is usually changed. not that its always a bad thing shin chan is really good... but like naruto, really.. is that shistnaps really necessary? also i hate having to read some crap subs that usually end up being fan subs which suck 90% of the time.
Some of you that are using changed dialogue as your argument against dubs....you realize the subtitles have been altered as well, yes? The dubs and the subs aren't the only thing that doesn't match. The subs and the original language content don't match completely either. Your fooling yourself if you think reading subtitles is somehow giving you a more "accurate" version. And you'd probably be surprised how little the changes effect anything in either case. They have there down sides (subs and dubs) but its not nearly as extreme as some of you seem to think. The way some of you talk, you'd think a dubbed anime has an entirely different plot.

It often is with 4Kids but if you take them out of the mix then I agree with what you're saying. It's not possible to accurately translate Japanese into English. Sometimes you just have to go with the meaning of what the character's are saying. I base whether or not I prefer sub or dubbed based on voice acting and whether I think the voices fit the characters. Take Kenshin, subbed he sounds like a girl, dubbed his voices fits him much better. Though I will admit there are some that I may prefer the dubbed versions to simply because I grew up watching them dubbed and they just became what I expected the characters to sound like. Most of the animes I've watched don't have dubbed. I tend to stay away from the more popular animes that do get dubbed. I'm just of the opinion that most of them follow what I like to call the DBZ formula. Character gets beaten, character trains, character wins and rinse and repeat. I will admit I've watched many subbed anime like this but I generally find theres a bit more to the anime then just absurd power and "cool" battles.
Yeah, that keeps coming up. Look ladies and gentleman, 4kids puts out pop culture dribble. That's all they do. I don't see why they are even heavy hitters in this debate. Half those shows probably should be in English since they were likely targeting us in the long term business plan anyway. They now know we'll buy anything that looks remotely Japanese so long as the eyeballs are big enough and the jokes are terrible enough and the plot beats you over the head with a mallet, if you even want to call it a plot. Its frankly junk regardless of what language its in. Put it in Cuneiform, it really won't make things better or worse.

It's okay. Nothing good or bad about it. The only concern I have is why all the hate? I mean, it's anime with english voice overs and they don't match the mouth movement. I don't see anything wrong with it.

the thing is, and its jsut a guess... Japanese animation with english dubs is probably 10 times better than American animation with Japanese voice dubs. XD

Really if you liked dubbed Japanese stuff in English and you're from America-odds are if you were from Japan, you'd like American stuff dubbed in Japanese.
Though that brings up an interesting point....How do the Japanese feel about the (IMO) generally awful dubbing of their anime in English?

Just sop everyone knows, excluding 4Kids, most the reason they change the quote is because
1. They have change it so the mouths match up.
2. They translate it different from the standard sub you've seen. But seriously, on Code Geass R2 episode 20, how did they get that on the dub?!
3. They localize it a little. This usually diesn't bother me, however, I played Persona 3 and 4. In those games, they didn't locaize at all, so I got used to Senpai. However, in Code Geass, they translated it to 'old man' SERIOUSLY!!!???
I heard the director of Cowboy Bebop liked the dub better. Which must be very upsetting to the Japanese Cast.
