Sorry, meant 4Kids for the editing. Still don't care for Funimation though. Though I believe that's just due to the fact I'm not interested in most of the anime they localize.
Depends on the series. I know there are some shows out there that have a really fantastic dub.
Cowboy Bebop, Legend of Black Heaven, Serial Experiments Lain. I usually take 1 episode and watch it in both dub and sub then decide which one I'll continue the series with.

I think people who hate dubs tend to give invalid reason why they hate them.
Okay, I've also seen FMA and Code Geass dubbed. They were all very good. However, I have heard about 4Kids, and those sound bad.

watched a vid about a year ago. johnny whats his face and the producer of whatever anime it was, naruto or bleach, he does voices for both, are engaged. they were talking about it on the video. so yes, i would assume they are banging. now we all know how he continue to be employed.
btw, thx for the neg rep whoever it was.
Wasn't me. I don't give neg rep. I think its stupid that you can here, and that people waste there time on it. I got two for something I clearly was joking about in one post. It really hurt. I don't do it to anyone else.
I'm sure it happens...But how often do you really thing that kind of this is going on? And why suppose the same thing isn't going on between Japanese voice actors and producers? The fact is unless you speak the language you can't tell if its good or bad anyway. Unless its just obscenely bad, over the top....Which most anime is anyhow...
lol, i want to change my vote and join the 4 guys who put 'other'.

Life has no subtitles. Support your English voice actors.
In Naruto, Johnny plays Esamu (or however it's spelled). The jonin with a toothpick, whose like in SIX episodes altogether in a 400+ episode series. That's hardly a big deal. Also, I like Johnny, he's great in Bleach, Code Geass, Trigun, Eureka Seven, Haruhi Suzumiya, etc., and is not overcast as much as the fanbase makes out. Especially since over 80% of dubs nowadays are FUNi dubs, and Johnny is not a FUNi actor.
But your comment still is incorrect. It's unlikely whoever his wife is also had that level of involvement and control in Trigun, Code Geass, Eureka Seven, Haruhi Suzumiya, etc. All you listed were Naruto and Bleach, only TWO series that he's been in. You need more than that before you start throwing around random claims.
He didn't say it was you. He said "whoever it was". I read the post where you got the two neg reps and I honestly would have done it too.
Since you are new, I will just explain this to you: both flaming and flamebaiting are against the rules here. Since you must have read the rules already (since you are asked to do so before you post), I will not go into further detail than that and will continue with the discussion at hand.
Johnny's wife is named Amy Bosch. The funny thing is is that there is no major staff member who worked for Bleach or Naruto (from ADR Director to Producer, from the Production Managers to the guys who do the title music) that has the first name "Amy".

I watched Gundam 00 dubbed against my own will, it was halfway decent, better than most, but I like to hear both sub and dub before making a final decision.I've only seen Gundam 00 dubbed(and only season 1 at that) and it was pretty good. Does that count?
Lain had a shamelessly poor dub, I actually stopped watching it for a few days until I could find the whole thing subbed.Depends on the series. I know there are some shows out there that have a really fantastic dub.
Cowboy Bebop, Legend of Black Heaven, Serial Experiments Lain.

I agree with you, aishiteru333. For example, I personally think that Pokemon is better in English (Ash's voice suits him really well in my opinion ^^), and that D. Gray-man is a LOT better in Japanese (Kanda's voice is like some 80 year old man, not an 18 year old >.<").
I like Dubs myself
not all
but about 50/50
Some dubs are better cos the Dub suits the Genre better while in others the Japanese shines brightly and the Dubs fall flat (However good they are)
Frankly all Dubs have their merits and their flaws same as the Subs
Im only reading page one, cause im inpatiant, But I agree with a few people, Sometimes the english voice actors match the character better than the japanese, and sometimes the eng dubs don't do the emotions right. On GTO I switched back and forth to find the jap audio much better. On Baccano! it was the English VA's hands down. And for the comment about american accents, I mean seriously? Thats a terrible reason, I can understand if they don't match the character, or are overly used. Say give a english aristocrat a stupid southern accent. But for the most part they are proper. They just sometimes are too emotional when Voice acting, like in GTO I noticed that a lot.
Well my response was other, cause as I stated, it depends on how it was done. Gotta love Duel Audio shows.
PS. When did Gundam 00 get dubbed? I mean I don't follow the shows, and I don't watch regular TV, but thats news to me.
About a year ago. I just watched it for the first time earlier this year. The have the whole series on a Bandai upload on youtube. Their channel should come up.
Gotta say, in my opinion. Tieria and Hallelujah's voices were better in English. While Saji and Marina... Not so much...
BTW, they only have season one up there, season 2 was a bit tricky to find. But it comes out on DVD next month.

Original Japanese for me! *Can't stand dubbed*
I don't personally hate dubs, but it makes me mad whee the voices don't match up to the character's mouths. <<That really tics me off. Or, when they have really corny; that also can get on my bad side. Other than that, i don't have any issues with dubbed anime. But, i voted Origional, Japanese; cause i would chose that over regular ANY DAY.(: <3

All Dubs sucks, the only dub that comes close to my taste is the German dub(although I don't understand). Really all dubs alters the characteristics of the character, just by the voice.
I hate dubs the voice acting is bad and the really poor quality ones make the anime seem cheap.

Accents, especially southern accents, are usually used either to fit a character or to reflect the accent used by the character in the Japanese version.
Yet another thing most people do not notice is that the Japanese language does have regional accents. If you study standard Japanese for 3 years, hearing the regional accents becomes very easy and they ring in clear as a bell (the differences between Kanto-ben and Kansai-ben are extremely obvious).
For example, in Azumanga Daioh, the character Osaka has (obviously) an Osakan accent. The Osakan accent is characterized by its (comparatively) harsher tone, differences in pitch and contractions of words. Because of this, she is given a comparable dialect in English.
A long time ago. It premiered on the Sci Fi channel (actually, I think its Syfy now) in November 2008 and the entire series ended in September of last year.
Yet another thing people are not aware of. Anime is a form of limited animation, meaning that it uses camera tricks (panning, zooming, lighting, etc) to show more movement than what is actually there. This is to save time, money and labor. For example, ever notice when anime characters have long conversations, the camera pans away to something else? That some of the conversation occurs while the camera is zoomed in on a cup, a computer, a window or some other object?
Mouths are the same way. In case you haven't noticed, unless a character in enunciating something, their mouths only move up and down; they do not have the mouths match the speech like Western animators do. These are called mouth flaps. The Japanese do this to save money and labor.
Dialogue is set to match the mouth flaps (and not even the Japanese match the dialogue EXACTLY in each anime). The Americans have to do the exact same thing, however, since our speech pattern is different, we can't match all the time either, leading to (more noticeable) mistakes and changes in dialogue.
