Well, I never saw the value of popularity. I never really liked a lot of attention.

And also, OT, but someone left me a red rep from this thread, and i'm a little confused:

Besides, the popular kids in any school come off as cocky, arrogant, and ignorant.

Thats not neccesaraly true, And I know alot of people think this.

But I know alot of people who are the complete opposite. Some of my mates that Im involved with are very popular, but wouldnt show any arrogance, and are easy to get along with no matter who you are.

I'm not popular or unpopular, simply anonymous. Once you're out of high school, it's much easier to avoid being placed in either of the former classifications, and find some peace in the latter. I make and keep very few friends, and I don't talk to many people. After school, nobody really gives a damn about you or what you do, and I'm content with that.

Ah, well, I guess popularity in your place means something else, here the students who score well, who speak a lot in the class and those who are the frequent leaders are popular...and it is a bit surprising but these students are the ones who care the least about the whole...how am I looking...he's looking at me...and that guy/girl stuff....sooo....mhmm...I'm not the one with a drama...and yea..those drama people are talked the least about...especially in my school..because children just don't want to be like them....

I am classified as 'weird'... So if by popular you mean lots o people know you then yes im popular.. but if it means socially 'cool'.. then no the 3k8 is not very popular. Im a gamer and a soldier i have very few true friends. 3-4 to be exact. but hey i do know a junk load of people!

Well, nobody knows me where I live because I just moved...

But if I think I will be working at a certain place for a long time, then I do make an effort to get to know people because I feel it's important. Outside of the high school definition of "popular" I just think it means well-liked. I like my social circles to be fairly small, and I can be a pretty private person (keeps the drama out) so not much room for a lot of popularity under those conditions. I do like to be known for SOMETHING though, even if it's just a silly habit or something quirky.

I guess you're right. Since I was exposed to a lot more people in college, my opinion on the whole "popular kids are all ignorant" statement is starting to change. Some of the popular kids in my college are okay with talking to me, even if I'm somewhat of a weird nerd

As for thread question, "do you think your popular?"

Yes and no, In High school people knew me for being oddly strong, despite my appearance, I could bench rep XXX amount. It also helped I was in 3 sports at the time. But being high school, and a hot-blooded guy, I did stupid things and people found out. For example, getting suspended for fighting at school, which I feel dumb for when I think back to it.

I don't think I was popular among the guys either, since I usually talked to girls mostly. I just got along better with the opposite sex better, but I wish I had more guy friends sometimes.

Well I'm not in highschool anymore, but when I was I couldnt say I was even close to being popular. Alot of people know of me, and alot of my friends were "popular", jeez what an odd word.

To think about it, there's a fine line between 'easy to get along with/all around friendly' person versus 'trying too hard and exert out more of yourself that you shouldn't'.

Maybe that's why majority of the mass prefers an outgoing/friendly person, and not a fake one.
