I'm done with Mexican food. I've had it every day for 16 years and I'm done. It just takes cheese, tortillas, beans, and lettuce to make anything Mexican.

I don't like Chinese food as much I used to because it gets my mouth way too dry.

Middle eastern foods are actually pretty good. There's this really nice restaurant near San Jose that serves Iranian or Pakistani (sorry I can't tell the difference) food and it was pretty good. I have no idea what I ate since my friend ordered everthing.

Texas has its own unique flavor of food. I freakin' love Texan food. From barbecue ribs to chitlins to Texas gumbo.

If I had to make my own preference, it would go:
Chinese food, Japanese food, then Vietnamese food

Due to the fact that I was born and raised here, Japanese is probably my favourite. I LOVE Japanese rice (I personally believe Japanese rice to be the best tasting rice out there). And I love a lot of traditional "home cooking" like; nikujaga, nabe, oden, and most fish. I also love Japanese curry, and Japanese kimchi (which is less sour than Korean kimchi). And niratama, which is garlic chives (nira) cut up in small pieces and fried with egg (tama) and flavoured with sugar and tsuyu (a Japanese sauce made with stock, sugar, mirin or cooking sake, and soy sauce, used mostly for cooking and is also the basic soup for udon and soba). I absolutely love the way my mum makes it. I also love ramen. I go through phases of what flavour is my favourite, but as of now, it's tonkotsu (pork broth).

I also enjoy Chinese like gyoza, nikuman, spring rolls, and fried rice.

Bleh, I like most food. I love eating. =P

Chitlins isn't only Texan, actually all of the southern states probably had it. It was something the slaves concocted to eat on the plantations, if I recall. They were responsible for a lot of the neat stuff southern states have, as well as barbecue.

Watch out though, our food will make you fat. And probably give you heartburn.

just like a lot of guys who have worked in food service their entire lives, i'll eat pretty much anything. unfortunately, line cooks are poor. so i have never been to italy, greece, japan, etc... to actually try their cuisine. the only thing i've tried are the americanized bastardizations that we have here. but it's still tasty. one of my dreams is to travel the world and eat at every mom and pop cafe i come across. most people don't realize, but hong kong super buffet and olive garden are not the kind of food that you would get in those respective countries.

this is a little off topic, but easier for me to answer, i prefer to cook american contemporary cuisine. american food is great because its a fusion of so many different types of food.....but as a culinary grad, i gotta admit a little french flare usually finds its way onto my plates

You and I have a similar dream then, only I'd want to go see and do everything after the meal. I love all kinds of food. Maybe it was because my dad used to be a chef, and I got to try different things from other kids. Of course, you'd trust something weird from Dad more than some restaurant, right? His specialty was Italian, though I've seen him pull all kinds of things out of his hat.

"was" doesn't mean he's dead...just retired. In his mind, it's the same thing sometimes.

the word gumbo comes from an african word for okra. french aristocrats has african slaves and tried to teach them how to cook but because of the language barrier the food didn't quite turn out french, but a fusion of dishes that later became known as cajun and creole, which are similar but not quite the same

No worries, I'm from California and I'm sure to eat at least one of our 43, 569 South Beach diets we have here to reduce the fat.

I was born lao, so naturally I would like Thai and Laotian foods. If it ain't spicy, it ain't lao!
Mexican food is good, especially elote, no matter how nasty the combination sounds. I love Italian food. I could probably eat Alfredo and Linguine all day. I'm not into Chinese or Japanese food too much, but I could go for Vietnamese.
Oh instead of those icky Maruchan stuff, try Mama noodles. That is the essence of instant noodles. They're even good raw.
