Spilling the beans?

This thread was inspired by many other silly threads.

So you have spilled your baked beans. Now what? You've got sticky beans all over the place. How are you get it up?

Do you wipe them up? That gets the sauce up, but the beans are still there, and now they're squished.
Do you use a vacuum cleaner? That means you get sticky bean sauce all over your vacuum cleaner.

So what do you do?

Not baked beans, but I spilled my share of pinto beans.

It was horrible. I had to pick up every bean bare handed and wipe up the mess while being yelled at by several relatives.

An average Thanksgiving.

I call in my dog to clean it up and a few hours later take him to the Vet for an emergency.

I would not have to worry because baked beans are disgusting, nasty gross and are not allowed in my kitchen.

And even if they were, I'd call someone else to do it for me.

I pick up the beans first with a cleaning cloth and throw those in the bin, then I wipe up the sauce mess and then finally I mop the entire floor.

There are no baked beans in my possession at any time. I hate them. In the event something is on the kitchen floor, and it's not poisonous like chocolate, we call the dogs over.

by the time i get the mop..
my floor will be full of dog and cats and chickens and ducks trying to outdo each other eating the beans...
but i'll shoo them away and sweep the floor using broomsticks before mopping all of it...
grr..
i'd rather have them on my plate though.

I don't know if 2012 was kidding, but the X seconds rule seems like no sense to me. When the food touches the ground, it touches it. Whether you pick it up immediately or keep it there for X seconds, there's no difference. If the ground has germs on it, they will stick to the food the moment it touches the ground. If the ground is clean, you can pick up the food and eat it even if it stayed there the whole day. The ground surface won't be different from the table surface.

Tile makes for easy cleanup.

Or, alternatively, have I spilled them in my lap?

First, I would wonder why beans were even in my house, let alone actually preparing them. Then I would have some sort of existential crisis while I try to figure out whether the beans are actually there or if I am just some formless being simply watching over a serving of beans being prepared for some other formless being.

Then I will hear the theme song for "Gargoyles" and forget the entire thing.
