Seeing the future is quite useless. If you can see the future, there are two possibilities:

- Either it's a static future (fate) that you cannot change -- if that's the case, there's no point of seeing it because there would be nothing you can do about it. And it's better not to know it.
- Or it's a prediction based on the present, which can change -- therefore, it's not really a super power that tells you the future for sure, and there's no point in having it. I prefer to base future predictions on a realistic study, rather than some "magical" super power.

Either ways, "seeing" the future is almost (if not completely) useless. Mind control would be more fun to have... But besides from the fun part, I don't think that there can really be a good use for it. If you want to make an army of servants that will mass murder and take over the world for you, that's obviously not good. And if you are a person who dreams about an ideal world, the word "ideal" doesn't exactly fit with a world where everybody is mind controlled. Because if they don't have a will to be good, they aren't really good. It would be just a world of NPC's.

If you arn't thinking about the whole world thing, and you just want to have a few servants that will do everything for you, then yeah, like I said, that would be "fun", and that would help you if you are lazy to do your own business. But besides from the fun and some personal benefits, it can hardly be good, if at all. You might say that you'll mind-control someone and have them kill criminals and otherwise bad people, but that will soon turn you into another megalomaniac who will soon become as bad as, or even worse than the people who you killed. And you'll end up either taking over the world, or being just killed.

I think it's a good thing that no human being ever has such super powers. Because power corrupts. And humans are corrupt enough without these powers. Imagine what would happen if they have them?

But if I had to select one answer of these two, I'd choose mind control... Cuz you know, it'd be fun to have some hot chicks that will do anything you want! Nah, I'm kidding... But mind control is at least more fun than seeing the future. And IMHO, it is more likely to have benefit.

I'd be fine with neither. But if I had to chose, I'd go with mind control... I don't think I would like to see the future, I want to be surprised.. or rather make my own future by controlling people. I could really do whatever I want. Seeing in the future doesn't help with that.

Well.
If they were the selfless type of individual who actually wants to help people?

And when you think about it, comics more or less have it right in this respect.
Sure there are Super Heroes who fight for good and justice blah blah.
But every single one of those heroes have about 10-15 villians on average who use their powers for personal gain and criminal activity.

The only exception I can think of being the X-Men, but that's only because Xavier snags all those kids up when they're young, and can mold them into fine upstanding individuals who snikt and bub things before they have the chance to fall to the darkside of the x-gene.

And, back to the topic at hand, if I could have one power...
It really depends.

Immortality?
Sure It would take much longer to gain a fortune as opposed to looking into the future and winning the lottery. But you'd have all the time in the world to do so.
However. A shotgun blast to the head? That's still going to kill you.
So Healing Factor...Wolverine? He's been alive for decades, and he recovers from everything.
Hulk? Meastro recovered from a pile of ashes. ASHES.
Deadpool? X-Force went into the future. And guess who's still there.
Deadpool. A thousand years later. Still talking in yellow speech bubbles and being the same insane SOB.

Of course me not dying won't really help the world in the long one.

What about super strength? super endurance and durability almost always comes with the super strength package (After all, if you can lift 500 tons and hurl said weight into orbit, it's reasonable to assume your muscles are too strong for conventional firearms to pierce).
And the likes of the Hulk can jump great distances utilzing such strength...I think Hulks gotten up to 1000 miles in one jump before.

But...You can't punch EVERYTHING away right? (unless you're Superman, Hulk, Sentry, Captain Marvel, or someone just as over powered)

So how about something with a little more Finesse?
Control over magnetism.

Just LOOK at Magneto.
Bullets can't touch this man. His control over it is so great he can use magnetic fields to lift himself into the air and fly. Hell, he could rip a building apart in 3 minutes with raw magnetic power, and put it back together again three blocks away exactly how it was without a single screw out of place.
I mean, if you gave this guy a time machine?
He could go back in time to world war II and wipe out the entire Nazi regime in a month using nothing but 65 cents in pocket change and a handful of scrap metal.

The question wasn't about ANY power, it was simply mind control or knowing the future.

Only an idiot chooses knowing the future, because everything useful that can do mind control can compensate for.

see now this is the kind of creativity that makes any power worth having.
counter i look in to the future before you use your mind control on me and stop it from happening.

as far as my choice, i put mind control and seeing the future because they are the most appealing to me. i picked seeing the future because i think i would have more fun doing things like winning the lottery, look into the future and learn how to build things from the future(like a machine that lets me control minds), and i could control people though causality.
