Hi! I'm currently trying to sing some anime songs but I've never learnt singing in my life!! I play the piano (so I have some musical talent :P) but is there a way to practise my voice before getting into it?
What is the best way?
Thanks!

Well, I oractice and attempt to hit pitches. Its that simple. I sucked about a year ago, nwt I sing in my band and get applause. Last year, I got booed if I tried it.
Warm-up before you sing; drink plenty of water and don't strain your voice by singing notes that are too high or too low.
Well if you want to sing anime songs, I suggest you learn Japanese (if even a little). Look over the lyrics and recite them and eventually you'll get better. Also try to listen to the song more often.
I've never tried it, but I hope it works for you.
When singing it's important to remember it comes from the diaphragm and not your vocal chords. Hold in your midsection (put your hand on your stomach to help remind you) and that will help keep you from straining your vocal chords. Sore throat is bad for singers.
And try to stay with in your range when singing. Not all music is for everyone.
I'm an alto not a soprano. I can't hit those high notes to save my life, so my advice is not to try...not unless you have a vocal coach.
Good luck

i been listening ot japanese songs for about 4 years now,and when i heard them i just listened to them carefully and memorized them(and this was when i dint now any japanese at all,so you dont have to learn japnese to me it doesnt make it any easier but thats just me),but voice was never good that in the beginning, but my training came from singing songs,i can now do high and low pitches, just get some lyrics follow them with the song first, then listen to it and follow along while singing, try to make your voice "shrink"i guess you can saybut dont strain yourself,(i dont know wat they are talking about holding your stomach and watnot),but keep doing thsi and eventually you'll sound good
"Dark light come shine in her lost heart tonight
And blind all fears that haunt her with your smile
Dark light"-HIM
If you have a good enough computer you can sound like a really good singer. :/
I really can't give any advice, because I have a natural voice. Although my singing voice, sounds like Moterhead.

Some advice for all the guys who want to sound good:
Sing low octave to the point of slight creakiness (NOT vocal fry) and then go as high as you can with preserving that creakiness. Do that kind of thing for some time and you will find out that you can do it at high octaves (basically all but falsetto). Of course, you can't exactly end up sounding like Tom Waits (I think it would also require some serious physical damage to your vocal cords), but today's Britt Daniel is also a great thing. There is also a possibility that your speaking voice has to sound occasionally creaky (I know mine does) in order for this to work; I don't know, I never had anyone else try it (even I never did it with the intention of developing a good singing voice, but for the shower performances' sake).
Sing lots and lots of karaoke. that is, just play the song and sing-along to it as much as you can.

I always found that just practicing helps! I love singing anime songs too- even though i cant speak Japanese beyond set phrases. Singing with others helped me a lot too cause my friends, if they knew the lyrics, would join in too, which takes the pressure off a little of getting it perfect if youre still unsure (especially if like me, you dont have much confidence singing in front of others )
Learning to sing in 5 easy steps:
1- Practice singing. Sing anything, but scales and chords are the best because it helps you learn pitches, rhythemes, and stretches your vocal range. Attempt to hit higher and lower pitches, but only if you don't feel any strain at all on your vocal chords while you are singing the note.
2- Listen to lots of Japanese music with similar sound to the songs you want to sing. Pay attention to corresponding words and pronunciation, as this will help you currently as well as with any future songs you wish to sing. You don't neccessaryly have to learn the language, just understand how to speak it.
3- Practice singing without the music. This will help you hear the difference in your voice and the actual song, which will allow you to fix any mistakes you may be making.
4- If you voice starts to hurt, DON'T PUSH YOURSELF. You may think your throat only hurts a little, but you can permenately scar your vocal cords if you push them to hard.
5- Only do pieces you really love. This will help motivate you to learn the song, and you'll preform better because your love for it will shine through.
Thats all the advice I have. Number 1 in number one for a reason. Praticing scales are so, so, very important that I just can't stress it enough, though any singing will help.
samba bamba, llama momma.
need a new set, feel free to offer. :3
Well, if you're planning to sing anime songs....That's all I got. Hope that helps.
- Warm up, as PianoKeys4 said.
- Learn to speak Japanese.
- Try to hit the pitches perfectly, if you can't, try to sing at a octave lower or higher. (If you played any of the Rock Band games, you'll know what I'm talking about.)
- Try not to sing too softly or too loudly. If you are, you'll know.
- Try to sing the songs you really love first and continue to practice.
