Yay or nay?
From personal experience, all anime to live action movies failed hard and slaughtered the original series, creating something so different that it shouldn't share the same name.

Are you referring only to live action MOVIES?
I was supposed to give my own take but give me some clarity first by answering my question.

An anime that -should- make a good transition to Live Action would be Cowboy Bebop..
But that is SHOULD.. If they don't decide to butcher the hell out of it. Like.. for example.. DBE was.

ive heard alot of talk about a live action lupin the 3rd
i feel like that could work really well if done right
of course due to human limitations the live actions are not really gonna be that good
like the dbz live action..ok i didint see it but dont want to cause it has nothing to do with the anime but anyway
i also seen clicks of the live action bleach movie and it looks pretty good it was said to be coming out ion 2011 or 2012 i believe
"Dark light come shine in her lost heart tonight
And blind all fears that haunt her with your smile
Dark light"-HIM
Live action remakes are not as good as the animes. But I'll give some credit because they make an effort to be faithful to the anime.

Well there are some who don't really screw up, but animes are way better. There is always something different in live action. So: NAY
It is stupid to be afraid to die, but the most stupid thing is to be afraid to live.
Clearly you've never read the Old Boy manga and seen the Old Boy live-action.
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."
^No, I haven't.
I also haven't seen a live-action movie stick to the original plot. For all I can tell, the only correlation is the names of the characters.

When does the Neon Genesis movie come out? Will it be in theaters? Are there any trailers/screen shots yet?

Don't hold your breath. I'd say Robotech or maybe Voltron is more likely to get adapted next. Crowds go to "giant robot" movies to be entertained, not get severely depressed (which is why if a Gundam adaptation gets made, I imagine it'll cut down on the amount of "good guy" deaths quite a bit).
well, i have watched lot of live action movies of anime.
The anime deathnote, have 3 live action movies. The first two movies stick to the original story, but the third one is totally a different story which focuses on L Lawliet. The live action movie of death note is a good one, the actors who have played the roles were able to portray the characters of L and Light, and in addition to this, i actually dont like the anime death note, but i came to like it after i watched the live action movie. *winks* Maybe this is one good thing about anime-to-live action, if you dont like the anime, then try to watch its live action, you may then like it. XD
I have also watched the live action movies of Prince of tennis and Initial D. Although it was not as good as the anime, still, the idea of making a live action movie is as good as making a new anime series.
*you might think that i am a pro anime-to-live action* LOL
We generally agree live-action movies made by Asians aren't really messed up.
The new question is: anime to live action movie by Hollywood or some other American producer?

Well there is no reason that an western company couldn't produce a decent live action adaptation of an Anime or a Manga (I mean if Japaneses etc can do it and do it well why not others)
But generally they are too cheap to put in much of an effort (Or too stupid) and so we get hellspawn like DBE (Now called that hellspawn)
Or they make it fun but generally a niche movie like Speed Racer (Which I loved)
If they are willing to put a modicum of effort and money into the production and keep the original close (It can be changed because some mediums don't adapt well between) then I say Yay it can and should be done.
If they do that hellspawn then I say Nay NAY NAY
Not always. Hana Kimi was a pretty good live action . . . In my opinion 8I
But that was a long running series, so I dunno if it counts.
But, all in all, most do fail horribly.
No, they still suck ridiculously hard most of the time. Rookies live-action? Cutie Honey live action?
To be honest I find most Japanese actors, in both film and televisions series, to be pretty bad at it. There is of course the occasional exception, and part of the blame can go on direction...but still.
You also have to consider that American-made live-action based on anime don't have nearly the budget of other films, because there simply is not a large market for it here, by any means.
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."
Pretty Guardian Sailormoon started off okay, but turned into the biggest steaming pile of crap i've ever seen.
The actors/direction/story sucked and it was just not my cup of tea. Then again, I guess it was made for a really young age group, so I guess I shouldn't be complaining.

Not even just live action films of animes.
Many hollywood films in general are just wastes of film in the end.
If time and effort was actually put into these movies rather then just skimming a quick buck off the side they could no doubt produce some great adaptations
for me it isn't a question of should they as they should (Alot of animes wouldbe great live actions) but are they gonna put any effort into it.
I loved the cutie honey live actions. No, they still suck ridiculously hard most of the time. Cutie Honey live action?
Cheap, corny and ridiculously hilarious

Anime to Live Action...
I think it's a little bit different.... a company that wants to make an Anime becomes Live Action would hard-work. B'cause they must add effect which almost similiar with that Anime. But Anime to Live Action a little bit good idea than Anime to Opera ^^
Well I can't agree 100% that they have failed per say but I do agree they need a lot of work. There has only been one I really liked otherwise I agree they need a lot of work.

Most live action movies I have seen sucked. But I rarely take the time to watch them so if there was a good one I would most likely miss out.
I like some live action series. Gokusen was good. So was Hana Yori Dango. I wish they would have done a better job of Negima!!
I will GLADLY Say NAY!!
I watched the "Dragonball" Movie and well I was in tears laughing so hard of how bad it was, then i just cried for the rest of the movie..... I cried and cried for awhile to, because I was waiting for that movie to come out for about 1yr and a couple of months.... I was soo excited, I saw it on the premier night, I waited in line for about 4hr's before the movie began. One of my most worst night's ever....oh so bad, so so sad.....
