I'm not all that sure, to be perfectly honest. I haven't seen as many shows as probably most folks here, but of the ones I've seen only one (maybe two) have had the sort of internal consistency in the world they are set in to make me think of how I could, say, 'write myself into the story', or at the very least the setting. Cowboy Bebop was a great show, and is that singular example I was talking about, but Canaan might inch up there with it pending how the season pans out (I've also only seen the first two episodes).
