Of all the smiles and gazes you've met,
Those feelings that seem to uplift your broken spirit so high.
Nevermore, nevermore shall you find a love, my love,
Nevermore, quite such as I.
'Does it hurt anymore?' is the question to be asked,
Does it? Will it? Did it ever?
You got what you asked for, isn't that so?
Ah, but you failed to realize my own secret endeavor.
So what of me, you ask?
The care I had for you, so deeply, scathingly intense.
Was it wrong for me to inflict that sort of pain upon you, love?
Perhaps, perhaps... From me, for me, it would only make sense.
You called, I came to you, I am what you wanted.
Do you remember now, my dear?
But nevermore, I shall cry, nevermore, nevermore.
For the end is nearing, I fear.
Yes, I loved you truly, could you not tell?
Clipped wings to keep me in place, always and forever your little pet
Your own wings, sliced off from the bone,
A small fee compared to the price, all for me, that was to be met.
'Is it so?' you questioned.
'Yes, I am yours, love you I shall'; 'Truly?'; 'Truly,'
If you pledge to me in the end... your soul...
And I, my love, will become your life-long devotee.'
Needless to say, your time is up,
I loved you completely, as was my part. Now yours is left.
It was that one line, a contract, that one fate sealed with one breath:
'I will love you as you wish until, and I will... Love you intently to death.'
A little poem that I wrote for an attempted manga of mine, called "Nevermore" for ambiance. :)
