Similar Anime to Death Note?

Hi, I have just finished watching Death Note!! WOW! What an amazing series! I always avoided it before because of how popular it was, I just assumed it would be bad, but it was brilliant absolutely brilliant!

I now have a serious anime void!!! Can anyone recomend a series similar to Death Note, I loved the drama and the storyline. Thanks very much!!!

Also is Honey and Clover very good?

Go watch 'Monster', a show which is (in my opinion) greatly better than Death Note. It follows a doctor's pursuit of a young psycho which he once saved through a surgery. Just like DN, Monster has that dark and eerie feel all throughout combined with psychological, (a little) drama, and biblical elements.

Let's not put Monster in the field with Deathnote. Monster was a literary masterpiece...Deathnote was a shounen manga.


Try Onani Master Kurosawa. It's more-or-less a parody of Deathnote and Code Geass, though it's certainly "for mature audiences only". You also need a bit of a twisted sense of humor.

Thus giving the OP the option to enjoy the said elements present in DN taken to a level of excellence that separates seinen (not saying that ALL of it are good) from shonen (not saying that all are bad), and the transcendental from the trendy.

yeah i loved death note but monster....just went to far with everything idk i hated i dont really see that much how theyre similar. code geass idk if its worth watching but i dont like mechas so thats just me. im also searching for an anime similar to dn but the closest i have found is ergo proxy.

Code Geass sounds good but I don't like mechs either so maybe I'll watch an episode and see what its like. Monster sounds brilliant I've wanted to watch it for ages but I can't find it on DVD anywhere, searching just for "monster" seems to get a lot of results. Any help?

DVDs aren't available just yet for Monster. Viz will release the first boxset (13 episodes) this December. If you're interested in the manga version, that is already available to purchase. However, the anime adaptation is pretty much perfect, no filler or slow pacing since it aired after the manga had already finished.

Code Geass is excellent, and the main character is far more easy to "root for" compared to Light. He does do rather awful things in order to bring about peace, but he actually cares about his friends/comrades, and he doesn't have a messiah complex that would make him naive and easily corrupt. The mecha are definitely present, but there's so many other story elements present that it'd be silly to overlook the series just because they're there.

I could recommend Hell Girl/Jigoku Shouju. Its not an in depth thing like Death \note but it has a few similarities. People type the name of someone who is causing them trouble in on a website and Hell Girl appears and offers to take them to Hell however the person who made the request will also go to Hell but not until they die. It might be something you would like if you enjoyed Death Note.

hmm only anime i can think of thats like death note that throws complete long drawn out explinations and debates about every little situation and possible outcome of anything is Ghost in the Shell Stand alone Complex

But I know they both talk about deaths xD and people deciding the death....

Either monster, or if you don't mind a game: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance has a pretty good story where you play as the villain.
