Ships and the ocean

I have always wanted to go out on the open ocean on a huge ship and see what it is like. I am wondering, how many of you have been on them and if so what did you like/dislike about them. If you have never gone like me why do you want to or not want to go on a ship.
I have always wanted to because they are so big and fun to be on. Cause of the parties and be able to see the sun set and all that.

I've been on the St. Lawrence River (in Quebec) but that was on a ferry, it had a dance floor and all though xD It was like a party on a trip I went on.

As for a large ship, I've been on one, but it was docked, and it was just a tour.

I've also been in a sub , but once again, docked, and above water.

I'm on a boat!

I'd like to be on a boat but I was thinking on like a cargo ship or something to see what that job is like.

I can't see myself on a cruise ship...I don't have anyone to go with, and that stuff sucks by yourself.

I was on a ferry between England and Ireland once. It was a pretty decent size, but the stabilizers weren't that great. I remember one person we were with ended up feeling ill. Sometime I'd like to go on an actual cruise trip though. Being on the water just plain appeals to me I guess. I'd also really like to see a sunset out at sea.

As part of a Boy Scout trip tot he Florida Keys I went night fishing by going out two-three miles out in the ocean. It was nice not to the see light haze from the cities and have it be totally black.

It's really not that far. Judging only from the distance, the trip should never take more than an hour or two. Unless there is some sort of special circumstance I'm not taking into consideration.

--edit-- Actually, used google maps to find what appears to be the shortest ferry route (Larne-Cairnyan), and went to their website and they say "just an hour."

This would explain a lot. Mainly why I'm so clumsy on land yet I'm so at home in the water.

Topic: I once went on a boat with me and my dad for about 5 hours when I was 7. I don't know what he was doing but I kept trying to jump in the water.

Boy that was a long time ago. The trip itself took about 3 hours I think, I can't quite remember though. It's definitely not one of those overnight trips that's for sure.

I haven't been out on a boat in quite a while, but I used to get invited on them a lot when I was a little kid. Some of my family and close friends had quite a penchant for venturing out into the open ocean and I'd often get invited to come along. I'd always look forward to feeling the wind in my face, the fresh spray of the sea as we jetted along the water.

One of these days I'd like to buy a speed boat of my own and go journeying out onto the open ocean on my own.

Really, once you get out there and come to appreciate the feel of it, you can never get enough.

I dont really want to go on ships i think i am sea sick [who knows i may be sea sick] also, after watching titanic i decided that i would never go out in ships never.

i love the taste of salt in my face, the wind, the sun...

just hate the food sometimes...

I dive, so I've been out in the Atlantic several times, and took a cruise once to from Vancouver to Alaska where we went a ways out to sea. If I could swing the cash, I definitely wouldn't mind spending a couple months on one of those sailing trips offered by local colleges (I think they're either a 'study abroad' type of trip, or a research one). I would happily go out to sea again, especially with accompanying dive gear, and strongly doubt I'll ever be able to live far from the ocean.
