I expect the worst, just because he's tripled our already huge deficit. And I can't see how this healthcare plan is going to save money. If it works, and quality of care doesn't suffer, and it does indeed save the taxpayers money, then I'll change my mind about it.
At the moment, I don't even have health insurance because I can't afford it. But I don't think everyone else should have to pay for me. I think I need a better job. I'm working on that.
In the meantime...I also don't trust Obama not to take us into another war. A lot of people scream about Bush taking us to war. Will those same people scream if Obama does it? And if it happens, what will be the basis for the war? How will it be fought differently from the last ones?
He won the election, and I've still not been able to determine exactly what Obama brings to the table. I can see what he might take off of my table. But his words don't match his actions, and he hasn't helped anyone so far.
And where are the jobs he promised to create? That needs to come before healthcare, before bailouts, before everything. Get the people back on track, worry about freebies and unions [I prefer the unions rot, personally] after we get rolling again.
He has the rest of his first term to make good on his claims. I already know I'll be voting against him in 2012, because I just don't see any of his plans coming together. And there are a few that I really want to see swept under the rug.

I want obama to send troops and make war against certain nations. I will be signing up if he gives pakistan ( Not correct spelling sorry. ) a little boot. We all know thats where a lot of those Taliban hide. It is logical for them to hide there. Hell at this point we can't even call it hideing now can we?
Job creation is the last thing to happen when comeing out of a res, or depres. He has saved jobs, but creation he said himself is not going to be over night. ya I know it has bbeen awhile but spending that money will take awhile, if we speed it up people would take advantage.

You spelled Pakistan right. There are some good incentives to join the military these days, not to mention benefits once you get out. Whether it's a good trade for the time you spend or not depends on the person. I thought about it once, but then I went to college. If I had it to do over again, I'd have gone in and had the GI Bill pay for college. It would have been financially easier on me. Not to mention I'd have a better resume.
ETA If Obama were to send troops to Pakistan, in an effort against Al Qaeda, a lot of people would have a hard time opposing it. I'd be in favor of it, if there were sufficient reason to believe they were there. I want Bin Laden's head on a stick and I want to see his homeboys ground beneath the heel of NATO. This might be a good idea for Obama to take up - it could boost his popularity.
There are a few things I think the gov't could press in order to create jobs. The Democrats seem to want a lot of green initiatives. Personally, I think they want to move too far too fast [and Cap and Trade will just further drive us down the hole with energy prices] but there's progress to be made there. It's all high level stuff the average joe couldn't really do though. In a way it's unfortunate that gas went back down, because with it hovering at 2.29 [here in Amarillo] no one worries much about driving their massive truck.
I want to buy a truck. I don't need a big one to be happy, I'd be satisfied with a Ranger or a Nissan Frontier. Or one of the smaller ones like the Mazda B2200 even. I just need to be able to haul stuff.
Anyway, with that certain discomfort faded, people might be less inclined to open up to alternatives like electric vehicles.
We need to seriously advance battery technology and charging systems. I know a few things, and if I had money I'd start a business in that sector. Unfortunately, I drive an armored truck full of other people's money, and don't get much of my own.
But what if your hypothetical F150 could get 50 mpg? Hell, what if you could plug it in over night and drive all day with no gas at all? What if you could do that and still haul heavy loads, drove of road, pull trailers, etc? And now, what if you didn't even have to plug it in!? Or maybe if you did it'd only be for a few hours.
Building that industry wouldn't help very many people that need a job, though. Personally, I'd like to see the states get involved and start their own programs. Even if it's BS make-work type programs. Even in the nicest, most well-to-do neighborhoods, there's still stuff to be done.

Hmmm people seem to be forgetting Nixon when they are slating Bush. One word Watergate. Anyway as a Brit outsider I'll go for Lincoln as he's the only ones other then Bush and Obama who I know anything about.
FDR, in my opinion, was the best because he was a President for almost 4 terms, which means that the people really trusted him with the handling of the country. I would like to see how he leads under times of less war.

Well, he served three times, and was only given the third because the nation was afraid of a change of presidents during war-time. He died pretty early into the fourth.
Don't be dumb. The implication that Obama could screw up really bad, but you doubt it, was then related to screwing up worse than Bush (your words). If you want to play coy and mince words then have at it, but it doesn't change the implied message.

for one, Washington has and will always be great...
but i will still go for Lincoln <since Lee is only a general>,
since let's say..
he is a naturally brilliant mind...
self-schooled and fair at that...
no one can surpass him in my levels of admiration for presidents in the united states...
john quincy adams would also do...
but since his not on the list...
then it's Honest Abe..
though i should not be commenting on this, since im an oriental not an american..
This is a surprisingly difficult one. I have to give my vote to FDR, though, b/c it's rather contemporary, plus the way he muscled America up from the Great Depression is something our politicians should read up on.
On the other hand, there is the - dare I call it - 'conspiracy' that he permitted the attack on Pearl Harbor.
lol
Obama up for vote already??
