Terraforming Jupiter is out of the question. You need a planet that is very similar to earth. Some people think it would be possible to terraform Mars, but I'm very skeptical of that, since Mars lacks a strong magnetic field and therefore is leaking atmosphere into space like no tomorrow. It would require a science that is well beyond ours.

Jupiter Is a Gas Giant. It also has alot of radiation and I think it could have become a star also if it where a little bigger. I supose that something like that would be impossible unless your in make em up land or something

Oh, I realize it's somewhat () gassy, but I'm thinking more along the lines of "Does Jupiter have the necessary materials to form a rock big enough that a core can form, or be jump-started?" Yeah, I figure it's more in the realm of science fiction and would require us knowing exactly how Earth-like solid planets are formed, but it's still fun to think about.

I maintain my previous position that someone well-spoken enough could sell our Congress on the idea.

A major obstacle with Jupiter is it's mass. The gravitation on it's surface is almost 3 G. So you'd have to receive special training and/or wear a fighter pilot suit to stay conscious. Adding to that, you'd have to be very fit to at all move around, let alone use tools.

As for those kind words, I'm the one who gave you negative rep. You hate Republicans? Fine. You can hate me all you want. Are you a Democrat? Do you consider yourself a Liberal? Well, that's fine too. The distinction is that while I'm a member of the same party as W, I would never want someone to die in a ditch for disagreeing with my principles/opinion. Typical of the people who hold your position, to expound tolerance, but only for those in agreement with you.

As for Gjallarhorn's post, I was going to say something about gutting the military and intelligence services leaving us less able to defend against 9/11, but George Tenet also implies Bush I started that process. Personally, I think Clinton was too busy lying under oath and defending his own scandals to have much effect on the economy. But then, I know how old I was during the Clinton Years, and I'm older than you. You know what I remember about the Clinton Years? Monica was ugly, my best friend had a crush on Hillary, and...that's about it. What I'm getting at is that what CNN/Fox says about history and what we've actually experienced are two very different things. Neither one of us had any knowledge of life or economics back then, and I think it's silly to accept something as true because Dad, the Party,or a major news source has claimed it to be fact.

It was just a part of the post-Cold War process. With the Cold War ending and no immenant threat on the horizon, we had no definite need to be pumping as much into our intelligence agencies as we had been during the Cold War. With the knowledge we had at the time, this wasn't a bad idea. Only in the hindsight we have gained in our "post-9/11 world" can we see that it was a mistake to cut it as much as we did.

However, Al Qaeda, or at least Bin Laden and his ilk were active during the Bush I and Clinton years, so it'd have made sense to keep some sort of budget open - if not for the military, at least for the CIA. I read that after 9/11 the CIA announced that they had been too understaffed with properly skilled folks to properly monitor all the chatter coming out of the middle east.

A scandal which didn't start until 6 years into his presidency (1998). More than enough time to deal with other things, which he certainly did. At it is not as though the the following 2 years he did nothing beyond lying through his teeth before those who elected him...though he did do quite a bit a whole lot of that.

I didn't remember when it actually happened. The lying part is what irks me the most, I could care less that he did what he did.

After Reagan's presidency, we had a federal deficit of over $200billion*

After Clinton's presidency, we had a federal surplus of over $200billion

Yeah, Iraq cost us a heck of a lot more than anyone in the White House thought. They also thought that the Iraqis would greet us with flowers at the doorstep - they must have forgot how we abandoned our new friends to Saddam's chemical attacks right as they were rising against him as they were meant to. We left them hanging. I don't know if it was Bush, NATO, the UN, or all three, but as soon as we pulled out, he turned around and killed a ton of people. Our fault, unfortunately. They were right not to trust us this time, though I wish they would try.

I trust CNN/Faux about as far as I can throw their collective editorial staffs, and I'm a pretty scrawny guy. While I didn't have any knowledge at the time, and I didn't start paying attention to politics until around the age of 11, I've read and studied quite a bit in the 9 years since then. I think that works well for me, because I'm not swayed by any biases I could have had at the time otherwise. And for the record, I think both parties are eroding our country because they're both full of bumbling idiots doing nothing but bickering with one another and representing their respective parties before their respective constituents.

They're not all bad on those networks, but they have so many bloviators and blowhards - as do all the other MSM sources, that you just can't get a straight story. I watch Fox over CNN, because I like some of the people better. But then I'll turn off O'Reilly and watch Lou Dobbs instead. Lately I've just surfed the net, and I don't really miss Hannity or Olbermann's opinions.

I think we're all swayed by some biases. I've already admitted mine, though I disapprove of much of the last eight years - Iraq wasn't really justified and we could have won in Afghanistan by now...not to mention that so much legislation that was vaguely worded and could be used against the average American came out of W's office. All in the name of safety, the gov't can strip you of your rights, and toss you in Gitmo. Anyway, it's great if you're able to look at both sides and not measure one differently than the other. Most people I know can't do that, or claim they can, but never actually make good on it. I know some diehard libertarians that only vote Democrat, and some people that somehow grew bleeding hearts over night - but for things like Darfur, mind you, not our own charity cases. I know Republicans that refuse to own guns, and Democrats that own more than I do.

The average 11 year old doesn't pay much attention, so kudos to you. I started paying closer attention when it was Bush vs Gore, because at that time, school was telling everyone to support Democrats, and I wasn't sure I believed what Gore was saying. I remember liking Bush because I thought he was the average guy.

It's too bad he came bundled with Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld.

Fox news is the worse or close to it. They do support the republican party, but I don't use that against the reps.
