What sort of creative person are you?

This thread wasn't inspired by any other thread, but an original idea. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?

What sort of creative person are you? Can you stick to one project, or do you run around starting hundreds of things that you end up never finishing? Do you put thought into what you're going to do, or do you simply come up with stuff as you go along?



I'm a da-vinci style creative person. I come up with lots of great ideas, but I rarely carry them through (case in point, that game I was working on last X mas), because just as I've gotten started, I come up with a new and better idea. Since I do a lot of programming, I can illustrate my inability to stick to any particular project in that I have a disused code directory. It contains 66 projects, all started last year, totaling around 15,000 lines of code. My serious code directory contains 22,000 or so lines of code, and it's really mainly one project that I rarely work on any more.

I also don't think ahead all that much. I wing it when I do stuff. It usually comes out pretty good, and if it doesn't, I start the cycle over with considerations run into the previous time I tried.

I come up with alot of good ideas, but I'm to lazy to follow them through and I tend to shoot my self down alot and unmotivate my self

My creative process involves pacing around my apartment and chain smoking, occasionally scrawling notes a black notebook.

My ideas are typically viable, and when I do get around to following them through, they do work fairly well most of the time.

I'm always struck by a random burst of inspiration, some genius idea will just hit me - I can sit there for hours just thinking about it, trying to fill in the gaps and whatever else.

What usually happens at this point though is I write a few notes, leave it at that for a day - and then I can't picture it anymore... alternatively I will begin the project there and then, but then can't get down what I originally envisioned, and by the time I've finished butchering my genius idea I can't even remember what it was supposed to look like ):

I usually begin a lot of projects I never finish, and if I do have something I *need* to get done it takes an army and perhaps a monkey trained in the art of torture to finally get me to buckle down and finish. I don't mean to be a procrastinator, but I think it's more of a case of "WOW! I have a new idea! Let me just write that down..." while I ignore the six hundred other ideas I've already got scribbled somewhere.

I usually smoke a cigarette, sit down, and just stare at whatever is closest until something misses me.

When I start a project, I follow through with it. That is why I only have two paintings and 7 drawings.

i come up lots of ideas, start them but come up with other ideas and mess the things up...though they can work...but not to my satisfication..

I would have to say that I'm sort of creative in the sense being able to think of something no one else has thought of. When it comes to graphics, I stink horribly as far as creativity goes. Anything visual and I suck. And as you said, I too start projects that I never finish haha, not that they are ever 22,000 lines of code. But that has to do with the fact that I'm learning a lot right now and I see something else that I would like to learn too and so I go onto that and never finish the previous work.

I have ADD so keeping to one task can be hard and boring after a while. So I try to keep myself busy with like 20 other things

I consider myself creative; for example, I have many novel plots inside my head, and a lot of them I know where I want them to go, the characters personalities, ect ect. The problem for me is motivation; I need buddies. If I have no writing buddies, then the ideas lay lonely in the back of my head. If other people around me are doing the same thing then I'm motivated to do it (competive streak, much?)

For example, NaNoWriMo! I can write most of the year (start but not finish), but during this event I write (and finish) so much more.

I am the type of person that cannot leave things unfinished, thus I will continue working on a single subject until it is completed. If I do leave it incomplete then I will bear an extremely uncomfortable aura for a long time until I forget about it or decide to finish it. It will most likely be the latter.

This is the completely opposite approach that I used to take in school where I would decide to do something and not finish it, or not do it at all, or actually finish it but with extremely low determinaton resulting in extremely low quality.

I come out with tons of ideas and don't carry some through. And is always starting new projects like 3 projects at a time ^__^ I get overloaded a LOT!

I want to be in the video productions business after I finish school. So creativity is really good for that.

I am quite the creative person. I come up with lots of ideas for stories, poems and art. But, some stories I lose interest in and I stop writing them. With drawings, I always finish them. I am starting a far larger project but I know I will follow through with it since I am incredibly interested in it. Some ideas I already have and others come up as inspiration from watching tv or movies.

I am a very creative person I believe. I work on stories a lot and yes I do start more then one project and don't always finish on the day I plan too but it was gets done.

Depends, I try to carry through my ideas and bursts of inspiration until that high disperses and I'm left empty and bored. Like those other artistes that need to be in a certain physiological precondition to do any form of aesthetic activity. With the exception that I'm not a drunkard, I think.

I am too creative for my own good sometimes. I try and do too many things sometimes and I am forced to drop some of them later.

Creative? I might draw and write, I might think of odd ideas, but I wouldn't call myself creative. People aroundme are more creative with how they decorate, how they get things written and done easily, and more than that.

I, like Flah Blah, must be in a certain temper in order to create anything that isn't utter crap. For serious, when I try to force myself to write when not in the mood everything feels...well...forced. Because it is. I haven't written anything in ages, but when I did I like to think it was very good. o.o As for projects, I do tend to start long projects and never finish them, usually because I see how crappy they are/will turn out. I have a number of unfinished stories myself.
