Did you like the new HP movie?

Just saw it last night. Though, I had finished reading its counterpart about a month ago, and was fresh in my mind. Ugh. Though I'm sure I'm not the only one with that feeling, but still, my question is... did YOU like it? Was it what you were hoping for? What was your favorite part in the movie? What from the book did you really want them to do that they didn't?

i liked it, but thats prbly because i didnt read the book, ive only read up to 5, i just bought the seventh at the mall today so im gonna read that, the whole Horcrux (prbly spelled that wrong) thing sounds interesting...

a lot of my friends were disappointed with it...

i went to a midnight madness thing with a bunch of my friends and we all decided to dress up in costumes, i decided not to go over the top and just wore a Slytherin tie and dress shirt... still i liked it, course im a sucker for good graphics and well directed tragic scenes xD

The whole thing felt really rushed. That's the problem with movies based off novels, lots of things have to be cut out in order to fit everything in a reasonably sized movie. I mean, I like HP and would probably sit through a 5 hour movie (very reminiscent of Titanic), but I doubt those not die hard fans would. And come one, this movie is out to make money, period. So I can't really blame it for being rushed, though that is my main complaint. I did really like HP2 as it didn't feel all that rushed (but hey the book is like half as long as HP6).

I hated how the movie

 

hinted strongly that Harry is one of Voldemort's horcruxes.

Seriously, I don't think that really needed to be introduced just yet, especially since HP7 is being broken into two movies.

I also didn't like the apparent lack of the whole Lupin and Tonks dynamic. I know it's more a side story, but this makes me wonder if

 

they will still die in the last movie. Their deaths

, while greatly saddened me, was a very good decision on Rowling's part. Let's face in, in that kind of movie with war going on

 

people are bound to die

. And if you don't emphasize these secondary characters early on, no one will care

 

when you kill them off.

It's just that simple.

I really liked the way Lavender was portrayed, made me laugh so much. It was perfect casting, as was Luna. Young Voldemort, both pre-Hogwarts and during Hogwarts, also did fantastic jobs being just the right mix of creepy and charming. Also, it should be noted that Malfoy played his role admirably, he really is a perfect cast. OH and Snape too, I loved it. I loved all of the great acting. =D! I was only slightly disappointed by Slughorn's lack of a beard. Boooo.

My favorite parts however were towards the end. The actor playing Dumbledore did a great job

 

portraying the agony he felt while drinking the potion on the island in the cave (thought they didn't bother to explain the significance of the cave which I can only barely forgive).

Also, the scene when Dumbledore

 

drives back the inferi (with Fiendfyre it looked like? I'm not sure, will have to check the book again)

was a great bit of CG.

I felt that this one had a lot of emotions and talking in it. Not as much actions as the other ones-- but then again, the calm before the storm, right?

The second stretch was especially rushed with the whole Dumbledore thing.
Lavender is freaking annoying.

The sexual innuendos had my girls laughing left and right in the cinema. Good comic relief.

I don't think they showed how strong of an attachment Harry had for his potion book.

They didn't sing "Wasley Is Our King". I really wanted to hear that.


My favorite part was when Harry drank the Felix Felicis. The way he was acting when he was in the hallway with Slughorn was great.

Oh, and Hermione turned HOT.

Like Capernicus said, it was a bit rushed and they cut out my favorite scene, but the acting was wonderful.

i thought it was the best harry potter yet and i kinda wana see it again but i dunno who to see it with yet. Also lots of laughs

I have not seen it but I read in a maxium magazine that it had alot of sexual inuendos.

I liked it but I wish it was more like the book. I wanted them to show Dumbledore's funeral at the end cause I didn't like how it ended. I also wished they would have gone more into Tonks and Lupin's relationship. But overall it was good!
