Well, I finally decided that I should put up some of my work. I really enjoy photography, and I like to share my work. But "sharing" doesn't mean you can go stealing my work now.

Here are a couple of flower shots, courtesy of the local Garden Walk.

Ok, by now, I'm sure you're tired of flowers. Time for a break!

Question: What type of camera do you use?

They are nice shots but it seemed like you were using your flash. For these type of shots use the light that you have. It adds more natural tones and gives more depth.

Answer: Olympus. Not sure what model, but it's an SLR camera, because yeah, I need that high-quality stuff.

Actually, I wasn't using my flash at all. It was an incredibly bright and sunny day though, so the lighting was extremely off balance in a lot of places. But it was the only day I could do these. *shrug*

Actually, I have to disagree with the use of natural lighting here. That's why you're seeing the harsh shadows and uneven exposure from the sunlight, is because you don't have strobes to even it all out (also lack of depth is caused by the sun washing things out with its scattered light). You just gotta use of your strobes right to make it soft and natural, off-camera from an appealing angle with good broad diffusion on the head (softbox-type is my preference).

But anyways, I digress... Your flowers are very pretty Kumo! I use the Olympus system too, by the way. All Zuiko glass for me, and even my flash is all Olympus.

On the contrary, when it is like mid day, i do not really shoot much stuff because of the extreme light that brings out those washed out brighter tones. I usually just come back later in the day to get that shot because i prefer more of the natural light. I guess you could say that it is a self preference but to me natural ligtht has more of a natural depth and tone to the photo. Now strobes or flashes yes can come in handy but at this type of level, it is just not that necessary.

Yeah, I'm not going to lug around craploads of equipment into strangers' yards. Besides, natural lighting often brings out a really awesome picture that you wouldn't normally capture. Some of my best and favorite photos are the result of dramatic lighting. I'll give some examples when my internet ever decides to load. *taps her foot and checks her watch* I've been waiting for over fifteen minutes for my photobucket to load already. =_=
