Short Anime Series

Hello everyone. I don't really have a lot of time to watch anime and stuff but I still managed to squeeze some free time in every now and then. Anyway to my point. I was trying to see if any of you could give me suggestions on some good anime series that are fairly short, like no more than 15 eps. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Well the shortest I can really think of at the moment is Gun x Sword (like 26 episodes but very awesome!) and Desert Punk (about 24 episodes but really funny) I dunno.... I hope that helped some.

There are a lot, so I'll just recommend the most recent ones. I might come back and add a few.

Rideback is at 12 episodes with a short but tightly written plot.

Kannagi ended last season as well at 13 episodes and it's already immensely popular. Definitely should check that one out.

Toshokan Sensou (Library War) is one of my favorite anime, and comes in at a short 12 episodes as well (there may be a sequel season). Interesting premise, good action, and a cute romantic subplot. I really recommend it.

The Tower of Druaga is a very entertaining tongue-in-cheek high fantasy anime composed of two seasons, 12 episodes each.

Rozen Maiden has two 12-episode seasons (Rozen Maiden, and Rozen Maiden Träumend) and two special episodes (Rozen Maiden Ouvertüre), but the first season is a stand-alone arc and can be viewed seperately.

Mushishi is a good anime with 20 episodes (24 in the DVD version).

Also, Fooly Cooly is really short, at 6 episodes, I think?

The only one that I know of that meets your criteria is Saikano. It's only thirteen episodes long, and it's one of my favorites.

I suppose I don't have anything other people haven't listed here, but consider this a back-up of the previous recommendations

FLCL (Fooly Cooly) - 6 episodes in length, the coming-of-age story of a boy named Naota, plagued with robots, aliens, and phallic imagery like you could never imagine.

Toshokan Sensou - 12 episodes in length, the story of a girl who is a soldier in a war between libraries and a government organization which wishes to censor them. There's also a heavily involved romantic sub-plot. Base Ball Bear was used for the closing theme song, so it's worth watching for that alone...that's why I started watching it, at least.

Kino no Tabi (Kino's Journey) - 13 episodes. A bit of a sociological story, of a girl traveling on a talking motorcycle to different cities and towns. The story is less about the girl and more about the towns she visits. Based of a fantastic series of light-novels by Keiichi Sigsawa, the first of which is available in english...no news on an english release of the second, though.

Kanokon - 12 episodes. An ecchi series which borders right on the line of hentai. Very, very funny, but not something you'd want to watch with your parents around. Follows a boy named Kouta who is in some strange sort of relationship with a hyper-well-endowed fox spirit in which...well...he isn't in a relationship with her, but she is with him. Shota raepz.

There was another short series I was trying to remember the name of, and somebody just mentioned it in another thread.

Mnemosyne is a short 6 episode series about these demon girls who have swallowed spores from this tree of life and can't die. They work as private detectives, and end up discovering the truth behind their own immortality.

I just realized nobody has yet to mention Karas (6 episodes). If you feel like eating some popcorn and watching a few hours of katana-wielding mecha-suits morphing into fighter planes (yeah), this is the one to watch.

I also forgot the original OVA version of Mobile Police Patlabor (not the tv series). It's only 6 episodes (+1) long but it doesn't waste a minute; it somehow manages to weave a serious political plot, while throwing in a highly entertaining joke episode (involving a giant sea monster). Unless you absolutely hate mechas, I think it's well worth your time.
