Yeah thats true. Whenyour beating someone in an agument the resort to calling you ignorant thinking that it will help them, but it only proves who really is ignorant.

As per Question: All the time, I read the comment threads on ScienceBlogs. You really haven't lived until you've seen someone claim that Obama was secretly born in Kenya and moved to America shortly thereafter and therefore isn't a natural born citizen and ineligible to be the president. In spite of, you know, his birth certificate that lists the hospital in Honolulu, the two birth announcements in Hawaiian newspapers, and the fact that even if he was born in Kenya he'd still be a natural born citizen because his mother was. These people make the 9/11 Truthers look like St. Agustine.*

Telling someone they have no IQ over that is in fact an ignorant comment. Same goes for the job one. Fact of the matter it is, in fact, difficult to get a job nowadays. Knowing the economy and what-have-you. No need to offend, just saying my personal opinion.

Oh, I was once told that I'm a "pussy" because I'm a pacifist. I found that pretty ignorant. Of course, those are the type of things one can hear all the time in High School. Thank God I'm out of there. Nonetheless, all of us are a bit ignorant from time to time. Some are just much more ignorant then others. Those are the ones that I cannot tolerate. Well, the ones that take it over the limit, at least.

However, I'd beat their spleens out if they were to call me Ignorant when I'm being stupid; they're NOT the same thing.

I would like to add something to this as well. Each one of us here could be clueless about at least 2 things, but there's no need to call people ignorant when they are the one who is an ignorant. Ignorance means a person lacks knowledge, sophistication or intelligence. Any of us can be like that, but there's no need to say that especially the person whos calling people ignorant is an ignorant.

Believe me, you can find this word very often in the old threads about politics, religions, or even sex orientation-related topics.

Please don't mind me giving examples...

"God creates human, and we suppose to find our loved ones, so I'm staying straight as being a Chistian"
"Noooo!!! You're ignorant! There's no God! Don't go against homosexuals!"

BUT, if someone has different opinions or different views on things, it is still wrong to call them ignorant. People can't be ignorant by having their own thoughts. It's like calling someone who likes math an ignorant, when ignorant suppose to mean someone who is lacking knowledge. It'd make no sense at all.

Everyone is born an ignoramus. You have to learn your way out of ignorance. The alarming prevalence of ignorance is thus not a failing of the ignoramuses (ignorami?), who after all don't know any better, but of society as a whole. The responsibility is probably evenly distributed between politically correct tip-toeing and confused notions of what a democracy entails.

that sucks. I'm a Catholic Democrat and I try to keep myself as non-prejudice as possible, my parents, who are also Catholic, are the same way. I definitely have seen some ignorant Republicans and Christians, but I've seen some very open minded ones too, same with all other groups.

I don't agree with this conclusion. It seems more likely that s/he implies that most republicans and Christians are ignorant. Which is arguably true, since most people are ignorant. Only Asian people are excused from this rule, since they are in fact time traveling robots from the 23rd century.
