Ok, I'll explain smth.
1. Shounen = boys, men... It means development of the personality and gaining strength... no, no women with wierd patches - men!
2. I search for something more-or-less serious...
3. It's supposed to be an animation... NOT a manga (the only one I read is Air Gear - 'cause the anime was incomplete...)
So - any other recomendations?

How about watching something other than little boys fighting each other?
I highly recommend Pokemon (the 4Kids dub), as it's a very good Shonen series. And don't listen to anyone who says you have to be a little kid to watch it. People of any age can watch Pokemon and enjoy it!!
I also recommend Kyo Kara Maou. I believe it would definitely qualify as a Shonen anime, given how many male characters are in that series. It's a very random and funny anime series. I'm sure you'll love it!! =D

Well I would have to recommend:
1.) Fullmetal Alchemist (I know you don't want to read a manga, but I would still recommend that you read the manga to this one. The manga is better in my opinion.)
2.) Samurai Champloo
3.) Soul Eater
4.) One Piece
That's really all that I can think of to recommend to you.

I'm not sure if it's your kinda thing, but I'd highly recommend Code Geass.
It seems to fit all your 3 explainations of shonen.
Evangelion is good as well.
