Afro Samurai?!

Has anyone seen the anime Afro Samurai its about a samurai in search of his fathers killer but he is like mega sick nasty with a sword and. It takes place in like modern times but kinda feudal era. I recommend it

Never seen it. Though I've heard that Samuel L. Jackson plays as a voice character.

He does, although his character hardly speaks anyway. the anime itself isnt bad, aiming for the more mature audience.

Got it on blu-ray not too long ago, watched the first episode and it seems interesting. I'll continue it one day, just don't have the time right now.

But I liked what I saw so far.

Afro may not speak much, but his imaginary friend Ninja Ninja talks a lot....and he is also voiced by Samuel Jackson.

Now.....Afro Samurai was right up my alley. Lots of blood and gore. It was good and if I'm not mistaken Season 2 comes out this month on Spike TV.

I believe I saw one episode of it, but it was strange and after about 2 minutes of watching him stand in the snow, I changed it. Perhaps I should look it up again . . .

i thought it was alright....i think the crazy ninja bear made the show! lol all the other characters are pretty forgettable.
Visually, this show was awesome, music couldve played a bigger role in this, it isnt used very much, and the story was very "meh".

Afro Samurai: Director's cut. A very bloody anime indeed. Not for the faint of heart or who despise seeing blood. But the action sequences are quite nice. An A Grade Mature anime. But the conversation is all trash.

Honestly I wasn't that impressed with it. It was ok and had a good voice actor (Samuel Jackson) but it's not in my top 10 list or anything.

New to this forum and bumpin this thread, anyone know of some anime similar to Afro Samurai? Not so much for the blood and gore, just the overall style.

Samurai Champloo is one that comes to mind. Sorry if I'm adding to the bumping of this.. new here as well....

as far as the topic is concerned. I didn't like afro samurai. It was slow, lots of senseless violence and didn't make much sense. I only watched the 1st and 2nd episode so that might be why, but it failed to grip me.

I keep wanting to watch this but I never have the time. I did see about 5 minutes of one episode and it looked pretty good. I might pick up the series on DVD/BD if I see it for a good price
