Heartache. Though.. I recognize it's value in terms of what it is. Other then that, I'd say any sort of pain you can be aware of while it's happening. I doubt you'll fell much from the wood chipper at your legs while you are unconscious. But when you wake up.. Ouuuuh boy.

I agree it's not like real painfull but it does hinder you ALLOT!! but for me geting hurt in the "you know where" it's not the initial shock that hurts it's the after effect

Hrm... I would have to say that, emotionally speaking, the worst kind of pain would depend a great deal on the kind of person you are. For me, the answer would probably be what a good deal of people have already said; heartbreak.

As to what the worst kind of physical pain would be is a bit of a trickier question. Throughout human history there have been innumerable and indescribable methods of torture that would probably make even a stone-cold person cringe in disgust. In that respect, any one of those would probably be a strong candidate. However, I think one of the absolute worst kinds of pain would be to stimulate the brain's pain receptors in such a way as to have a person's entire body in a constant, excruciating sensation of pain. Granted, it's a bit of a disappointing method since a normal human body would probably die long before any accurate measurement could be taken in terms of just how far the brain's pain receptors could go; still, I think it's pretty up there.

I see a lot of people agree heart aches are the worst.
You can't do anything about it, it's not physical, neither is it medically fixable.
It's painful to the core and it locks your breath, like you're intentionally suffocating yourself but you can't stop.

I dislike it when bones dislocate, unintentionally. I dislocated my thumb and it felt more horrible and uncomfortable than it did painful. I am not double jointed in any way, anywhere, yet my thumb still managed bend all the way backwards from the middle of the bone, the part of the thumb bone that is supposed to be unbendable.

I realised that it was not broken when I could still move it fully afterwards, but it still felt really uncomfortable. I am really careful with my left thumb now because I do not wish for it to happen again. This happened over a year ago too.

You can get over heart break, you can't grow back limbs or anything like that. Honestly, I'd get my heart broken 100 times before I go through one of those torture scenes you see on tv.

I've been through plenty of both types of pain, though much more of the physical kind.

The thing about heartbreak, is that at least you get something that feels good out of it beforehand, and the amount of pain you feel from heartbreak is proportional to how good you felt beforehand. So at worst it's a zero-sum game.
With physical pain, well, you can go through plenty of that without any benefit before or after the fact, so you're pretty much always a loser when it comes to physical pain.

I think it's important to recognize that pain, even if it feels bad, is not necessarily a bad thing. You don't need to enjoy it, but it helps to recognize its value. Like how in a Yin-Yang, each half defines, and is defined by, it's opposite. Your capacity to feel pain defines your capacity to feel pleasure, and vice versa.

Besides all that, didn't your parents tell you, "it builds character".

Urgh I'd like to wager the pain I feel right now is pretty awful. Had to induce 3 seizures in 3 days so that the Doctors could film them and check that the brain waves didn't indicate epilepsy - they didn't, luckily. But now my body is totally exhausted and I have a killer headache no matter what I do. It's not like when you hurt your leg or something you just rest it and don't touch it. Pain you can't escape is bad :<

Also yeah, emotional pain is awful mostly because you can't take ibprofen for it.
