I would have to say Halo, there are so many other better FPS. I think the reason its so popular is because it is so easy to pick up and play. Plus its a run n gun shooter.

I also agree with everyone else when they say FFVII and FFX, now dont get me wrong I love these games but I hate it when people say that they love these games so much, but they dont give any achknowledgement to FFVI.

World of Warcraft: I don't make friends easily. Most people blow me off. I love games. However I am not going to pay to play a game where people can blow me off. Kinda pointless to me. I like grinding a character to gain levels, but find that most MMOs make it so your next level can be weeks or months away.

I believe the .Hack series is a very underated videogame seires because it is a great game that no one really knows about unless they like the show I believe that it dosent get the respect it deserves..

That's not liking MMOs more than not liking WoW.

While WoW is over rated, it is probably the best MMO out on the market right now.

Try EQ. I got from 1 to 60 in as many days, almost completely soloing and there was a lot of wasted time in there because I'm working on 3 trades at once. I haven't leveled much since then, but that's more because I've been working on trades and getting crap for my epic weapon.

Pretty much every game that was hyped enough to be known publically was overrated. Halo 3, MGS 4, LBP, Bioshock, COD4, Final Fantasy, Mass Effect, Oblivion, GOW (both Gears and God)

I do though have to defend Halo, while it isn't the end-all be-all of FPS's, I was an avid PC gamer with just a few console games until Halo pulled me away.

I thought the gameplay was pretty damn good. Fun and enjoyable and the abilities you could use were sweet.

Lets see, overrated... Little Big Planet for starters. Yea it looks cool, and you can make your own levels, but seriously, it gets boring after 10 minutes. Maybe its better with coop but I played it at my friends house and didn't have any desire to play it again.
Another one was Braid on the xbox arcade. i played the demo and while it was kinda cool, I don't see what the hype was at all.

I agree with you, there are better RPG games that rarely get mentioned, like Shin Megami Tensei, Xenogears, Xenosaga, Wild Arms, Growlanser and Disgaea.

In gaming circles Shin Megami Tensei is pretty well renown. I'd go as far to say that Xenosaga gets too much credit. I played through Xenosaga and It felt less like a game and more like a movie. I got final Fantasy XII and Xenosaga II on teh same day and played them together. Even with all it's faults FFXII was clearly the better game.

Also, I love Disgaea, but in reality Final Fantasy tactics is better.

And, it's not fair to say that overhyped games are overratted. That would basically make any game that got a decent amount of attention are overtated games.

People overrated the underratedness of Earthbound. I played it, it's not anything to write home about.

Halo, FFVII, FFVIII, and pretty much anything gaming critics are giving incredibly high honors to these days (except for the Persona games ).
