Most overated game.
Just wondering, what do you think is the most overated game. I mean I'm sure a lot of you will scream like Final Fanasy VII, and I agree, it is over rated, but it's a great game in it's own right.
For me it would probably be Legend of the Dragoon. I mean seriously, everyone loves the game, but I cant stand it for several reasons. xD

I agree. everyone is like "OMG" Halo is the best FPS ever.
Honestly, It's a good game, but is more a product of hype then anything else.

When that game first came out, it was stellar compared to everything else on PSX. Well, depending on your tolerance of grinding.
Anyways, the latest game that I think was overrated was Army of Two. Holy crap, I hated it to all hell. I never tried multiplayer because by the time I was done with campaign I was ready to throw the damn thing out of the window.
I have to agree that FFVII is pretty damned horrid. Everywhere I go, at least one girl says "Liek OH EM GEE!!! Cloud and Vincent are sooo hawt!!!"
What's so great about two emo characters, one cutting himself with a sword, and the other cutting with his gold claw. In addition, Vincent has a gun with which he can conveniently shoot himself. Cloud just dwells too much on the past in the sense where I can think, "Wow, Cloud should borrow Vincent's gun first."
The Legend of Dragoon wasn't a game I really had any obsession with. I'm a speed gamer and try to shoot for quickest amount of time taken to beat a game.
Halo was just wrong. Everyone obsessed over it when 3 came out and camped outside of the mall near me just to get a copy. They camp and snipe a lot also which really pisses me off. When I play SOCOM: Combined Assault, I know I'm fine because I don't have to deal with "quick sniping". A patch was installed some time ago that shakes the gun upon going into First-Person mode.

Bad game play. "Hay our battle system is based on tapping the x (and sometimes square) button."
Bad item management "Hay items don't stack or anything.
Slow leveling. Like I think i was like level 35 when I beat the game, and I hear you need to be at least 70 to be the special boss.
Horrid Voice acting. xD
The world map is a dotted line. What is that, I mean ugh.
I mean also each character had like 3 special attacks or something like that, and a summon. The only character i really liked was Miku, or whoever it was. I dont even remember now, shes the one with the hammer.

every FF game after FF7. "Titus" and his infernal Blitzball was enough itself to turn me off for good...

actually I'd go as far to say FFX was one of the better final fantasys. Probably the only bright spot since 7. Yeah Blitzball sucked, but like at least they tried, I mean most RPGs didnt even try to put a crappy sports game in it.
However, Tidus needs to take fashion lessons. Look at what he's wearing.

Halo of course. I never understood why so many people liked it, I find the games rather annoying. With each Halo game they make, it gets more and more annoying.

Really? It didn't put me off at all. FFXII is the only really overrated one, IMO. And VII is overhyped now.
Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV were so overrated. As was Metal Gear Solid 4. I think they were all satisfying, yet didn't meet up to my expectations. I don't know about Halo 3, as I haven't played it, but the hype was just so unreal. Over a damn shooter with very simple controls, and goodness knows what sort of storyline!
I was expecting more from Grand Theft Auto 4, alot more. It got a 10, but was it really worth it? The gameplay and travelling gets tedious after a while, and it's gone so far from the roots of GTA III and Vice City I don't know if it can be called "Grand Theft Auto" anymore.
Oblivion and Fallout 3 are also quite overrated, but not as badly as some games.
And Metal Gear Solid 4 was.... disappointing. I loved the cutscenes and story, but it felt more like an interactive movie than a game. The gameplay wasn't as long or as challenging as I'd have liked. I suppose having alot of gameplay wasn't the intention, but nonetheless, I expected at least 12 hours of actual play.
It pains me to say it, but Call of Duty 4 was also overrated, seriously. It was short, and its weapons are unrealistic. It gets worse in multiplayer.
What is it with number "4" and being overrated?

I had huge problem with IXs characters. The only character I liked in the whole game was Vivi. I mean Zidane was a pretty crappy hero, even worse then Tidus (who really wasent so bad) and only slightly better than Vann (SKY PIRATE).
Also Kuja that girl (whos really a guy). What a bad excuse for a main villian. AlsoAt least he didnt have a dumb name like Ex Death or something.
The Crystal System was average at best. It was better than FF8 (FF90210) confusing junctioning and draw system, but FF7s materia system was very good, so the Crystal System seemed like Meh.
Don't get me wrong it's a good game, but it's not making it's way into top 10, or even top 100 lists.
Actually, I think IX did reach the top 100. Kuja was a great villain, and there was generally good character development all around, in my opinion. Kuja was more human than alot of villains, he had a motive and a personality, he wasn't just generic pure evil. I liked that about him/her.
What do you think of VI, then?

Aggreed. Halo is good and all, but I found it rather boring to replay the whole thing. And in half of the missions I ended up killing some of my comrades. I couldn't distinguish some of the aliens apart.

Yes. I loved the materia system in FF7 along with the battle music.
Halo is definitely up there on the overrated game list. Most of the players obviously never played Unreal Tournament.

VI was a good game, out of all the villains Kuja was probably the most sinister I meanI do feel that some of the character development was lacking with the main cast, like Locke, his development depended basically on Celes.

Zelda: OOT has to be among the greatest games ever made. I my opinion, and many others, it's one of the few games that a trueley wide range of people enjoyed. A lot of people don't like RPGs or such, but you don't really see "Zelda Haters" anywhere near as much as you see "Final Fantasy Haters"

Final Fantasy VII was an extremely good game. I honestly think the reason people bash it more often is because of squareenixs milking it for everything it's worth. I mean ugh, after 10000 things about final fantasy VII I want to cry. I mean what's next, Cait Sith's Casino game?
Halo is one of the most overrated game but try telling that to some of my friends
Oh and FF7 is my favourite RPG because it was my first. So these things we have extra love for. The story was awesome and there were a lot of things to do. I liked the characters, combat system and just about everything.
