Speilburg used to be one of the best, though if this is the kind of reaction he gets now I feel sorry for the movie industry.
Here at the place where our love reached it's climax, I leave behind a broken heart torn to pieces by fate.
Merry Christmas.
Never seen Oldboy, but it sounds like a good movie. I think they should leave it alone because most remakes suck. Example- War of the Worlds.
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."
I think I vomited in my mouth a little @ both Ryth and Xero.
On this day of days, most epic and prideful, you were born 15 whole American years ago!
Through the odds and by doing the impossible, you beat out hundreds of thousands of siblings in the great sperm race for the coveted egg.
Probably via hax.
Regardless! You won!
So remember, whenever someone picks on you or calls you weak or small.
Just remind them that you beat out a few hundred thousand other wimps.
And the grand prize was not dying!
@Xero: Still doesn't seem like it would be as bad as the actual unofficial HK DBZ live action movie.
Or the live action FotNS movie.
Ehhh, I dunno if I'll stick around. We'll see.

Or Cowboy Bebop people.
We have nothing to fear anyway.
Numerous prophecies of doom exist for the year 2012.
The Large Hadron Collider, capable of producing a black hole which would take four years to consume the earth, was started up in 2008.
Hey wait a minute... 2008 + 4 years? Hey, 2012...
Nostradamus returns in 2012, the comet said to be capable of destroying this planet if it hits, there is a slight chance of impact.
The Mayan calendar runs out in 2012, it simply cannot compute any further without either being restarted from the year 0.
If only it took four years for them to actually make these movies, surely something would go terribly wrong before they were relased.
That or we could cause a premature destruction of the earth by nuking somebody, the resulting nuclear war would destroy us all.

Except that it can't and it wasn't (they've only run tests).
I think Eris could explain it better then I, but Black Holes do not work in such a way as to be able to eat the entire Earth or any such garbage. They lose small amounts of energy all the time, and since the black holes that the LHC would create would be incredibly small the black hole would be extremely short lived. Also worth mentioning, the black hole would exhibit no more gravity then the normal mass of the matter used to create it. What makes a black hole a black hole isn't abnormal gravity, but extreme density.

Looks rather gibbering to me.
That's simply how that calender works. The Mayan prophesied events after 2012, so obviously the new age hippies that popularized this garbage are wrong if they say this indicates doomsday. The Mayan calendar runs out in 2012, it simply cannot compute any further without either being restarted from the year 0.
Also, you forgot Palin 2012.

I'm well aware of that, being into that kind of science. Quantum Physics gets really interesting, especially when you mix it with relativistic effects and astronomy.
Basically should they actually make such a black hole in it, unlikely as it may be, the resulting 'particle' of infinitely small volume could gradually consume other particles and make its way to earth's core, influenced by earth's existing gravity.
Once it reached the core it's own gravity would cause earth to gradually add to it from the inside out until eventually the earth including us had shrunk down to 1/infinity , infinitely small but with the same mass we all are used to dealing with. It wouldn't be anything like popular conception, in fact for all we know we might even survive it since our science at present knows nothing of what exists on the other side of the event horizon.
Though more likely, it would indeed lose enough energy that even the small amount of energy loss it would experience would be enough to keep such a black hole from even escaping the confinement of the LHC chamber.
Certainly seems odd that such a glaring misinterpretation would be left unchecked for so long, though it is a very realistic possibility that a comet or asteroid could strike this planet causing critical damage to the world as we know it. Then again, I suppose 'prophecies' are no substitute for NASA's comet and asteroid observations, because prophecies do not set times for when things will happen, it only describes what happens and eventually will be fulfilled actually, even if we aren't alive anymore to see it.
That's how prophecy gets it's power, it is intentionally crafted so vague that no matter what happens it eventually will be accomplished.
Which makes it much more likely that instead of the world ending at 2012, the calender would simply reset to 0000, and count up all over again in a new epoch or something. As usual, prophecies and rumors are no match for logical and scientific approaches to explaining things. It's like how Roman Numerals can't be used to count the years with after 3999 without using a multiplier to describe it, because their counting system stops at M (1000) and you are not allowed to have more than 3 identical symbols in a row.
3999 would be MMMCMXCVIIII as point of fact, if you wrote it as the romans would instead of the 20th-century 'IX' convention for 9.
I don't wanna be alive to see that. As it is I'm surprised there haven't been nukes flying yet. Imagine a presidential PMS.

... if black holes were stable, which they are not. Matter is so sparse on ground level that even if you drop a miniature black hole into the ground, it will evaporate faster than it takes on matter. A macroscopic black hole is so big that gravity is a factor, but a miniature black hole just doesn't have a lot of suck in it. On a quantum scale, gravity is so weak it's negligible compared to other effects.
Collisions like those of the LHC occur frequently in the upper atmosphere, and if black holes were stable, they would rain down on us and have turned the earth into a pea billions of years ago.
That is just wrong. Your reply is like the film "Hackers". It hurts for so many reasons.

Hey look, Japan made a movie about me!
the world ended when they decided to make the dragonball live action movie
Actually, you can (and do) account for relativistic effects in QP in some cases to get better results. It's typically necessary when subatomic particles move in relativistic speeds, such as electrons orbiting atoms. The first thing that springs to mind is the Fine structure, which is just that.

Well, i know what's going to happen in 2012. And in fact, so do some of you. You just don't realize it yet.
I'll just say this:
Gears of War is based off true future events.
Eh. Stop complaining. Just don't go see it. I might see it, simply because I think Will Smith is a great actor. After the new Indiana Jones movie, however, I have no more respect for Spielberg.
All The Ways You Wish Could Be? That's me
