Would You Kill Someone You Love for the Good of Mankind?

I have my X aura about me again, which is what this question is a reference from.

There are no consequences or anything, it is just one simple question with no specified story. To an extent this is just an "X", end of the world question. Just simply; would you kill someone dear to you to keep the world as it is now, or would you not kill them and let the worlds' inhabitants die and hope for a revolution in the future?

I am afraid to say that I would probably make perish my dear friend or family member to save the world. I know that they are close and that it would be difficult, but it is one life in return for millions. Unfortunetly I am just thinking about numbers here and not the love I have for people close to me. Also, letting the world die for the sake of killing your friend would be selfish, but there would be no one left on the world to complain.

Remember, I do not bother of the plot holes in the question. If there is little understanding then either watch or read Clamp's "X" series/movie or just do not answer at all. I just want honest and simple answers and explanations.

Yes. I wouldn't if I thought it would influence my life majorly though. I need some reference from people with experience. If it is a worldwide matter like global warming or such, I wouldn't try to hesitate. I can live with pain, but not without selfishness. At least, it is what I am.

Not that it would really matter if the whole world ended because of him/her, but it would be an appropriate thing to do. Not doing it would be selfish on your behalf. Though I would try to understand exactly what he/she is trying to do beforehand.

Well depends who id have to kill.Still i dunno if i could do it.I think that the other person would understand that it has to be done and pretty much forgive me for doing it.It is for the greater good right?But then again what good is it to let mankind live more.They will eventually destroy themselves anyways.

Why live your life as a murderer? When you could share the fate of the rest of mankind. I think it would be selfish to do the killing.. I dont believe i am in more need of sharing a different fate to that of the rest of the world.

Let me see, I don't really like mankind, don't have someone I "love". So blah. If I did have someone that clsoe to me and I had to choose them or saving the world. I'd choose them. Good for mankind my arse, I have better things to do.

It's unlikely that I would be close to someone who was detrimental to the good of mankind though. I avoid those kinds of characters.


My perception of justice is that if you can't rehabilitate someone within practical means, you should probably kill them.

I don't think I could do it. Lets just say for an example that this person was my daughter their is no way I could kill her. I know it might sound selfish but I would end up puting her before mankind. I just don't think I could just kill someone I love so much.

I don't really think that that has to be the situation, Wio. Who said that they were responsible? I think the question might be more of a they're innocent and you love them. That's the question. You can't make excuses of how they wouldn't be close to you because that's like dodging the question, so you may as well have not answered in the first place.

As for me. Eh, no. If we could continue, together, I wouldn't be able to do it. As least I'd like to think I wouldn't be able to. I mean there are a lot of things I always say to myself that I would do for my friends and family because I love them so very much. Yeah, I've got the whole "I'd die for them, and I'd kill for them, too" thing going on. So what if it's 6 billion as opposed to 1? And in the words of the great George Carlin - "The blood is already on our hands. All we're talking about now is a matter of degree." Or something to that effect.
