"A WOMAN has been found guilty of buying an arsenal for her bullied 14-year-old son, who was planning a Columbine-style massacre at a school.

Michele Cossey, 46, of Plymouth, Pennsylvania, admitted she helped her troubled son Dillon build a cache of weapons by buying a rifle and gunpowder but investigators still do not know whether she was aware her son was planning a deadly school attack.

Dillon, who left school at 12 after being bullied over his weight, planned to use them in a massacre in Plymouth Township, Pennsylvania.

He was caught when a schoolfriend he wanted to help with the attack told the police"

..."The court was told she bought Dillon an assault rifle fitted with a sniper’s scope, a 9mm handgun, a .22 rifle and gunpowder to make grenades.

Prosecutors said she had created a "me-and-mum-against-the-world" attitude in her only child.

Dillon Cossey had such a passion for the Columbine High School shooters that he decided to attack Plymouth Whitemarsh High School last year, according to the eNews.2.0 news website.

Dillon had been home-schooled since he left public school because of bullying.

His defence lawyer said internet violence woke the boy’s fantasies and he wished for a school attack."

Sure blame on the internet again. The internet is like New York. It's a hard place and if you can't handle it all then just leave.

Seriously though. If your kid packs on the pounds in college or even middleschool/high school that's one thing. But it sounds like this kid was already full on fat by the time they were 12. Probably much earlier. And I put that on the parent. You have a large amount of control over your child and what they eat when they're in grade school.

Italicized because I live in New York and not all of it is hard. Yeah it's hard in the city because I used to live in the Bronx but now I live in a peaceful suburb in the countryside. It's just fine in the countryside as there is no real drama.

While I have my own personal cache of 2 handguns, a rifle, 2 flashbang grenades and a smoke grenade, I don't actually go around killing people even though I plan this stuff out carefully and to myself.

Exactly why I'm a Martial Arts teacher. Why settle your problems with guns and sharp/blunt objects when the only weapon you need is your body?

Any problem can be solved in a violent or non-violent manner. Sadly, people don't take such a belief into account. As a result, they get in trouble for something they shouldn't have done.

Example: Gandhi and the non-violent protests. The power he used was that of heavy influence over the oppressed to start the non-violent protests. This led to great change in India.

Every form of power comes with a price though. Gandhi's power of non-violent protests caused the deaths of many but the reward from it was change for the better. Those people who died did not die in vain.

Now since I listed a positive form of power, I shall list a negative form.

Example: Recently, Saudi Arabia left OPEC. The reason the left is because of Hugo Chavez's rants about the Saudis. It was his power as a dictator in part that caused the Saudis to break away from OPEC. The Saudis had enough of Chavez's rants, and left. Seeing as they served as the main influence and leverage for OPEC, them leaving means OPEC is most likely screwed and will probably dissolve. OPEC is already making plans to invite Brazil into membership with OPEC but don't expect Brazil's membership or the export of oil from that area for a LONG time. Saudi Arabia controls the prices of oil in what's called a "free market economy" I think. (Please correct me if I am wrong about any part. Thank you very much.)

I can't believe the mother. Of course she knew what he was going to do with those. She must have! He'd been bullied at school so badly he had to leave. Even he didn't tell her about what he was planning, it must have crossed her mind. There's no way she didn't know. Either way, I still can't understand why a parent would help their fourteen year old child obtain weapons like that.

I don't blame the internet, especially in this situation. I completely blame the mom. I would hardly ever blame the internet for something like this. You have to already be messed up to want do something like that. As for video games, I think that's completely ridiculous. Some say that kids get desensitized to seeing violence and blood and whatnot, but no matter how real it can look, I don't think it can compare to actually killing another human and seeing them die.

This mother had power in the form of money to purchase guns and materials for destruction.

She offered the power to her son who gladly accepted.

The price for obtaining such power came in the form of incarceration for the son in an juvenile penitentiary for seven years and sentencing after psychiatric treatment for the mother.

Power will always wreak havoc.

This is truly sad. I think we need to regulate fire-arms more efficiently. The UK seems to have a good system going. There are pitfalls to not allowing citizens to have firearms but it would certainly solve problems like this.

This is ridiculous. The kid should of been grateful for even being took out of school to begin with. My mom would of said "Suck it up. Just ignore them."

The guns are no big surprise. The kid could of got guns from his street for a couple bucks. But the kid to ask a friend to help in the murder? That's the biggest mistake I've heard.

The mother is totally to blame. Instead of handling this postive like going to the school and talking to teachers or the principle on how to handle this situation. She buys her son weapons to deal with the bullying at the school. How did she think he was going to use them. School are very aware of bulling now a days and will take steps to handle it. When my daughter was getting bullied we went to the teacher and she took steps to take care of it and we never had problem after that. It's parents like her that just make me want to scream get a clue. Handing your kid whatever they want is not being a parent. Step in and talk to your kids. Find out what makes them tick. Find out what bothers them, and try to come up with postive solutions. Stuff like this makes me sick. She did nothing but mess up both their lives.
