This is obviously misinformation, spread by the true UFOs that obviously need a landing strip (why would they build an UFO landing strip if they didn't need it?!)

Alas, it has started. I take it that you have not read the news reports in Great Britain ragarding the uknown outside of our little planet. Recently there have been a huge number of sightings seen here of U.F.O's all in the same place, or a couple of miles seperate. Even the British Army have spotted one and it even appeared on their radars, yet there was nothing actually in that airspace. They also could not recognise the shape of it. Not to mention the majority of strange shaped rocks that have been found recently here, ironically in the same areas in which these U.F.O's have mostly been spotted.

I think that Aliens may have went to investigate into Britain a lot more as it is only a small island far north of Earth, and that they wanted to see whether it had inhabitants. If not then they would nest here and start their plots and become more familiar with our world. Unfortunetly for them we are a very hugely populated country.

I can almost guarantee you it's a glitch in the system that Google Earth is using. Looking at the Topography and how the object completely mismatches it (straight and flat vs. up and down valleys in the land) I wouldn't be surprised if it was some sort of interference with the camera that snapped that picture. Also, you can only zoom in on it so far, thus the system has recognized the fault and figures you don't need to see to much of it.

The Aurora Borealis messing with the camera maybe? I know that if you put a strong enough electromagnetic source near a digital camera, it will really shag with the image. Since we're not too sure just how much EMI is produced by the Auroras, I think it would be pretty possible that some reached out and touched a satellite as it was taking pictures.

To restrict satellite's paths is very difficult. It almost never happens. The Soviets knew about the base in Area 51 long before the US public because satellites pretty much operate with impunity. All the USAF could do was hide anything sensitive in hangers if it was small enough or just cover it with cloth. Besides, if that thing is real and not an artifact, fake or hoax of some sort, it's size'd mean nearly the whole western side of the northern hemisphere would have to be devoid of unwanted eyes. It couldn't be done in any pratical sense.
I would, though, like to ask Eris why he/she/it chose UFOs to explain this image. Secondly, I would like to point out that "UFO" doesn't mean "flying saucer from outer-space." It specifies an unrecognizable flying object. If it's in the sky and it isn't apparent what it is, it is a UFO by definition.
Eris, devious and mischevious by habit and/or nature, may be trying to get you all to slip up your own thoughts. No one needs to prove Eris wrong or provide another explanation to render the UFO idea invalid. Eris had absolutely no reason or evidence to connect a grey strip on Google Earth to UFOs. Think about it. Until there's a reason, it's garbage.
As a side note, I'd like to ask why everyone thinks alien spacecraft are saucer shaped. The saucer shape, if anyone ever could manage to make it work, is great for aerodynamics, but supposedly they're mainly spacecraft. Spacecraft could be any shape that's structurally sound. Additionally, wouldn't drones (not like Borg- pilotless & automated) be a more efficient choice than manned expeditions to our drab little planet?
Having said all that, I'd love to have green men from Mars in the news once again. The late 1940's and early 1950's in North America were so colorful when it came to extraterrestrials and unrestrained panic.

Hmm, I don't know about interference and stuff but I think, it's a little too accurate for it.
If it really is interference, why is the image in question in a straight line? I think it should be a bit curvy or something. Oh well, that ain't my specialty.

I don't really know what to think of it. It does look too wide to be an ordinary airstrip.
Maybe it's a farm that is divided to sections. Some farmers do that. They arrange whatever they plant in sections. But the spaces are little too wide for it. Oh well, whatever it is, it sure is mysterious! I wonder what it could really be.

True, true, but then if it is what you say it is, then why is it easily accessed on the Internet? This means it is a glitch or misrepresentation/hoax, it is meant to be known, it isn't sensitive at all so nobody related to it cares, or the Canadians still haven't the government and military resources to scare anyone quiet about their new gray brick of land.
