Default A question about a sentence.

In this sentence, do I assume that there is a implicit(である) after 日本人 or の particle is a form of copula? The で for 米国人で is a connective だ, so there should be a kind of ending verb for this te sequence after 日本人.
    米国人で奥さんが日本人の人を知っている
I know an American whose wife is Japanese.

    米国人 and 人 is repetitive

plus that is like old person Japanese

    say "アメリカ人"

    日本人の奥さんがいるアメリカ人を知っている。

Is what normal Japanese say. Maybe just me I don't know.
