Weelll, for the longest time my interest in anime/manga had been the core reason for my anti-social behavior. So, my parents directly related it to my failing school, bad moods, etc. They weren't too pleased.

for my family, anime = cartoon, so they usually laugh at me when i tell them that it's a different thing, but basically they don't care what i watch. ^^

My parents never get mad at me for buying mangas, but they would suggest me not to spend money on such stuff instead, they want me to save money for the future needs such as college tuitions.

My parents liked animes when they were younger, my mom especially, she liked totoro so much. But now, they think the new animes are very disturbing, because of all the ecchi and hentai has been an obsession of anime fans, and how anime girls has horribly huge boobs, and how perverted and meaningless the animes are today. Well, I personally agree with my parents, maybe because of the different decades we are from, I really don't like the new new new anime today, but I really like those like Carcaptor Sakura or Fushigi Yuugi, the animes from the 90s.

My parents don't really care I guess. They sometimes ask a few questions along the lines of "What's it about?" or something when I'm about to buy something like a new manga or something. My brother watches a few anime. But my boyfriend hates it T.T

My brothers think its just stupid, my sister doesn't care, and my mom feigns interest sometimes. Overall I don't think they really care, so long as they don't bug when I'm in the middle of reading a manga.

My mom is oblivious to the difference between anime and cartoons. She doesn't know I watch much if any since it's only Saturday nights I get any good anime to watch. My brother likes it somewhat but isn't old enough to understand some of the more advanced shows and their plots. Some of my friends are in love with it while others barely know what anime is.

I am 22 years old and I live on my on so I don't really have to worry about their opinion but I started getting into Anime around middle school and I remember some of my family members saying things like.."what is this"?
I think they were more interested than offended or anything negative.
Eventually it got to the point where I had a decent collection and I think my mother said something like "As long as you don't dress up and go to those events".. to which I said something like "No worries, I don't like cosplay anyway"..

My parents don't actually care as long as I don't neglect my studies. It's all they ask for. My sister, on the other hand, just got into anime because of me!!

My friends think I'm weird about it but they don't mind because they enjoy me talking japanese and speaking anything anime to them even if they don't understand... (actually that's the point. they enjoy it because they don't get a thing I say!!)

My whole family loves anime... except my dad. But either way it's still most of my family. My mom watches Naruto, Bleach, Inuyasha, Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop and the ones on Sci-fi channel. My little bro just watches it when mom is watching is on TV.

And TJ? I can't remember the last time he's watch an anime, I know he's obsessed with Kamen Rider though.

My parents get pretty angry when they see me watching anime for 2 hours,so I do it when they aren't home...they can't understand why do I watch CARTOONS(that's all anime are for them)...they never will,but they might stop bugging me so much...hopefully

They don't care. I am the one that usually buys all of my anime and manga needs (my mom might buy me a manga once in a while), so why should they care what I spend my money on? But, my mom highly enjoys the Miyazaki movies, which is really cool.

well my Aunt doesn't really care as long as I do well in school and as long as I have a social life. My Dad sort of likes some Anime that I watch, but he thinks that most of the Anime I watch is weird and sort of childish or a bit too old for me. My brothers love Anime, but hate manga. (They hate reading.) And my uncle doesn't care as long as I do as I'm supposed to, get good grades in school, and don't talk to him about it. My uncle thinks its childish and weird.

i dont even think they know about how much anime i watch... for sure they know i like it... but im a night person and i do most of my anime watching when my dads sleeping... hes a fireman and he'd prolly think its hella weird for a 17 yo guy to like anime in his macho mind. (has far as i know he loves bugs bunny and friend soo.... whatever)... even if hed know it i wouldn't care hell. my friends are all tough guy and their favorite activity's is to go to the gym... they do know i watch anime and they think its a waste of time but i seriously dont care and they tease me when i use it has a pretext to stay home... but as long as i play football and hockey with them and go out with them they dont care hell what i do with my free time...

My family don't mind. My sister used to like Sailormoon, so my parents got used to it. But other than that, my mum let's me go to conventions and stuff so it's awesome. My friends don't know what anime is. If they do, they'd be like "It's so lame! Your too childish!" and stuff. But I don't care. No person can un-influence me with anime!
