Dehydration

Have you ever been dehydrated?
How did you get rid of it?
How did you know you were dehydrated?

I believe I have been dehydrated before. Actually, I think i am dehydrated a lot of the time because i do not drink a lot of water. I have recently been told that i am slightly dehydrated. I didnt even know i was. huh, who knew? not me. any way, i am just trying to drink lots of fluids especially water.

Any other ideas?
Stories are way cooler though, so share those too!

I'm never really dehydrated, and never have been because I always have a drink every 30 minutes I have no stories to share because my life is so boring

Only a few times have I been. To get rid of it, just drink water and have a piece of fruit. Not too much water at once though as you'll get water logged.

I don't very often though, it's pretty rare. I drink about 2L of water daily (I use crystal light to give it some flavour) but focus on prevention as opposed to treating it once you are.

Not like its hard. . you working out; drink water. You doing things in the hot sun; drink water. I don't see why people fail to get this.

Well im in the army and i hear about dehydration all the time. It is a masive problem here. People just dont drink enough water.

Im the CLS guy for some of the road marches and lots of people fall out from being unhydrated. You can tell if your hydrated or not by your pee. If your pee is yellow or even pink lemonade colored you are dehydrated and you need to drink more water. If your pee is clear you are hydrated.

Yes i have been dehydrated be for. I got like realy realy light headed. Felt my body heat drop, started getting cold sweat, and my stomache hurt like all get out. But i just kind of kept marching, and it went away after a coupld of mins. But i you should not do that. I did it cause im hard headed and i have a death wish. If you dont stop and drink water when you feel like this you could get heat stroke and possibly go as far as dieing. I was lucky and just had minor aches. But seriously folks just drink water and youll be fine. 12 quarts a day is what i do and i stay clear pee all day.

i Get DEHYDRATED so much, because i never drink pure water, only juice, carbonated water, but never regular water. My parents say it's a problem but im still alive after 3 years... So i dont think it's much of a problem. When im dehydrated i just drink Sprite or some carbonated drink, lol

Only one time and didn't liked it.... It was when I was on a trip in Italy and had to walk a 1h30-2h00 under a killer sun.... I was feeling dizzy with a big headache... but finally buyed a huge bottle of water.

Not that I know of.
I don't drink a lot of water though. In fact, I don't drink any at all.
I just drink like one juice packet and two cups of milk (which I HATE) a day, approximately.
Ever since I was little I've always had a bladder problem. It's probably because I don't drink enough water. xD But when I drink a lot I have to go to the bathroom like every 15 minutes. -_-

I have been dehydrated before and it wasn't pleasant. As soon as I got home, I chugged 6 glasses of water when I was home. It took forever for me to get over it and I had a very sore throat for a week. I didn't even know I was dehydrated till I realized I chugged 6 glasses of water at home. ^^

Uhh, chances are you are dehydrated more than you aren't.

People who say they have never been dehydrated obviously don't know the realistic side to it.

If your pee is any colour other than clear, that means you are dehydrated regardless of how much water you have downed.

Any time you feel thirsty you are dehydrated. And what Fiend said about the urine is true; it should be colorless and odorless if you are drinking enough water.

Think of it this way: if you can drink at least 4 regular-sized water bottles a day, you are drinking enough.

I have not experience dehydration yet and i really don't plan on it. What's one way to cure it? Hmmmm lets think here, your body is lacking water so...... oh god this is hard. Maybe drink water? I hope i'm right.

Everyday i usually drink between 2-4 liters of water. If i am doing a lot of stuff i will drink 4 but normally it is 2.

Well, anyways, you could tell if you are, when your lips are dry, your super thirsty, you pass out, under head too much maybe, be the cause, it kinda depends.
Well, anyways, when I was young, idk why, but my everybody have to force or tell me to drink water all the time -.- Idk what my problem was ..but yeah, I got dehydrated most of the time. So my mom wade a schedule of me drinking water every 1 hour maybe, and have to finish this whole big gallon of water =.= ...

Also, the closest I've come is the very dizzy, detatched, and slow state, when I was at a friend's house when I was in the third grade. Thankfully, my friend's dad was a vet and my buddy knew I wad dehydrated when I described myself as dizzy.

No, being thirsty is not good ;p Ideally you should be drinking enough water throughout the day so you never actually feel thirsty, as it is an indicator that you are already dehydrated. I think it's currently recommended that men drink 3 liters and women 2 liters daily. This amount should be broken up throughout the day so as not to become sick and to make sure it isn't flushed out of the body too quickly ^^

Drinking lots of water helps me keep control of my hypoglycemia, so it's rare that I not drink enough. Now eat enough (especially protein), that's an issue on its own... >.>

To be fair, there's no medical precedent as to how much you should drink. The "8 glasses a day" was pulled out of someone's rear at some point. I drink a lot of water when I do physical things, and very little when I lounge.

Also, a number of people in this thread are describing Heat Exhaustion, and not dehydration.

Actually, yes, it does O.O; And what that Brolly guy mentioned above is true for me...guess that means I'm hydrated I tend to drink a lot of different stuff, water, milk, soda, juice, etc. So, I'm quite hydrated

Of course. That's why everything is an estimate, or "educated guess." Drink with meals and between meals. Lots of trips to the bathroom means you're either overdoing it or drinking too much at once. Feelings of thirst or dark urine means you're drinking too little.

That really depends a lot on where you live and what you do during the day. If you live somewhere warm and do heavy manual labor, you're gonna need a significant lot more water than you would if you are a paper shoveler in a cool environment.

Nope, all I drink is water. I don't really drink anything else, so dehydration is never really a concern of mine.

A while back I had managed to not take in any water for about three days...On the morning of day four I started puking...well more like dry-heaving for about a half hour. I tried to take a shower and almost fainted, which was followed by many cramps and immobility. So it was off to to the hospital for 3 IV's and 14 stabs of the needle to get said IV's in. All in all, I have learned to drink water daily :P cuz i dun wanna get sabbed in the hand another 13 or so times.

Me personally no but I had a friend back in middle school who passed out from dehydration. Coincedently we were all watching a sex ed video of a women giving birth when he fainted luckily my friend Cody was able to catch him before he hit the ground.
