Hey guys and gals. I can't really say the it's fan art, but it is all inspired from various animes. The comic pages are my own characters whom are part of a story I've had going on in my head since I was eight or something.

I admire you because I would never have the patients to draw an entire Anime inspired comic such as this! I can barely draw one picture without either falling asleep or giving up. XD

Such encouragement can really help when self-doubt takes over. I'll try and draw new pictures for the gallery soon.

I'm going to play devil's advocate for the hell of it and agree that these are terrible. What do you hope of achieving in posting this besides people agreeing that you suck and/or patting you on the head and saying it's not so bad?

I'll offer more serious feedback if I see you don't butthurt like other people in this forum over the above.

What did I hope to achieve? Perhaps I didn't really think they were that terrible and wanted some honest feedback. The title is more a pun on other threads I've seen which displayed low self-esteem. In retrospect it was a mistake and I was just walking into trouble. Anyway I certainly got an honest opinion from you, so thank you.

Unfortunately I'm not too sure I'd be able to learn from your feedback under this seed of failure you've planted in me. See, most people would present reasons along with the opinion, hence "constructed criticism", even if the same harshness was applied. I'm not sure how someone is supposed to react to a post with only "I agree, it is terrible" and "what were you trying to achieve" (ie. you should have known your art was trash and withheld it) without some hint as to why. Yet you seem surprised people "butthurt". Your very style as an art critic is fundamentally flawed.

I'm not going to defend my work-- it is a creation with number 2 pencils, printer paper and limited anime artistry knowledge. I will even call it crap. Great, we've passed a hurdle and seem to be on the same page. Let me remove myself from the equation for a moment, though, because I imagine other sub-par artists getting similar treatment. The post you've made is utterly void of positives, and to many may even end all attempts to continue or practice art. Perhaps you've taken the stance of a realist whom delivers only blunt truths. I don't fault that but I have to point again to including reasons and, to add, mentioning possible ways to improve.

Take honeysenpai17's post for example. The tone defiantly tells me what I've done is poor, but it offers a rich vault of reasons-- colors, shading, finishing the backgrounds and correcting anatomy anomalies, expunging erase marks, etc (all summed up in "needs more work'). Darkmizu says I need more practice, this also gives the message of being below the mark, but through it perhaps I will practice and slowly improve. Please note that I am not looking for a sugarcoating, as the aformentioned posts displayed.

If you still feel any need to post reasons and serious feedback, than I will read them.

They aren't terrible, but they need some work. You have potential, practicing and going through some tuts will surely help you improve. Don't get discouraged! Drawing is love and love needs attention. Thumbs up for posting and for drawing a Manga o.O I could never do that, I suck at drawing faces xD

You may need to look up what it means to play devil's advocate, then.

Actually, if you go into a real art forum (like, say, this one, which I recommend you browse around simply because there are some amazing and inspiring artists there!) you'll find the critiques are basically along those lines, or harsher, depending on the attitude and skill of the artist who is posting. Though considering this is the AF FanArt forum, it probably is wrong of me to assume that artists here have the same attitude that the more serious ones do.

I'd gladly critique your art, but seeing your age and current posts, not sure if you could take it well.
