    Default Best '80s anime

Hi. What's the best anime form the 1980s? I never was an anime fan till I saw the anime they showed on Adult Swim.

I'd say Zeta Gundam or Fist of the North Star.

Was Appleseed popular in the '80s? What anime kids shows were popular in the '80s besides Voltron?

Robotech was definitely the series to watch in the 80's. Then, of course, there was Akira, and Ranma 1/2.

As for the kids stuff, what about Speed Racer?

Glass Mask is undoubtly awesome. Also, I like Ranma 1/2, Maison Ikkoku, Miracle Girls, and Saint Seiya.

Well I have two answers for this question.

First of all, the anime series from the 80's that had the most significance to me as an anime fan and to the anime genre. The answer for that would easily be Robotech no contest.

Now as a fan, my favorite anime from the 80's also happens to be my favorite anime all round. That would be Legend of the Galactic Heroes. No anime I have seen has ever had such an ambitious scope in both story and production. With a giant cast of constantly evolving characters, alliances and battles it is a true spectacle to behold in terms of anime and storytelling.
