Uncharted: Drakes Fortune- Racist?

I was inspired by DARKMizuSauske's thread "Resident Evil 5: Racist?"

Not too long ago I purchased Uncharted for my boyfriend as a gift. We then stumbled upon Zero Punctuation's review on Uncharted and found Yatzee's note of how "all the villians [with the exception of ONE British boss] were african american or hispanic"

We really didnt believe it at first, until we got further into the game. Until about chapter 16, we did notice that everyone against you was a minority.

At roughly chapter 16, you find yourself attacked by some-sort of monsters. Earlier you notice that German Nazi's were after the same treasure as you, so I joked that perhaps they were Super Nazi's [much like the Sci-Fi original failure...err...movie] and were white instead of purple.
Turns out, they were cursed SPAINARDS.

Has anyone played it and noticed this too? Any thoughts?

Why hasn't no-one picked up on the fact, it is just a video game, this society is far too politically correct. Its really quite pathetic, it is only a video game, if you don't like the fact that the enemies are all of non-white decent then don't play it. No one is going to force you to play it, and no-one ever will.

And don't come with the whole "but think of the children" because if they play the game, it is the retarted parents fault, not the kids.

You keep saying about how things that don't exist such as events in games cannot be racist and can't be because the events are just fiction, although you found it easy to complain about fictional Catgirls in my thread. How does that work?

I persoanlly could care less, I just found it extremly funny how you dont shoot at a single white villian.

However, this is true that no one forces you to play it, but do they tell you ahead of time that there may be what some consider racist material in it? Nope. So by the time youve figured out that its something that you dont want to play because it offended you, youve already spent your money on it. And depending on where you buy it, chanes are you wont get the full price of the game back.

I don't see how a FICTIONAL game, were your killing crazed black pesants can be racist, now if he starts to wear a KKK uniform and shouts "WHITE POWER!" after killing an enemy, then you can call it racist, but until then, it is just a game, so get over yourselves.

He didn't say there's no racism, he just says that it's in the video game and that the consumer should be aware of what's he's buying. (Or that's what I got from it)

In this topic we clearly need to define what is racism, racism is in short when one race thinks of itself as superior compared to another one.
Now, we need to situate the context of the game, I got a bit of info on the game, it's set on an island, other than that I'm lost. But Maru, is it normal for you to fight minorities in the set of the game? If it is, then it's not directly a racist game, like let's say the KKK fights black people.
If you think that the creators created this kind of set so that they could make white people kill minorities, then it would be racist. (But I doubt that they did that, but who knows, the world is full of different people ;o)

The main character is white, though I think his great greadfather or whatever is French. You hang around with a white reporter [Elena Rivers I think] and have a white buddy [Something Sulavan].

And Im guessing its supposed to be modern day, since there helicoppters, airplanes, guns, etc, etc

Not really...at least, I dont think so. The story is that you find your grandfathers diary about a huge gold statue and set off to try and find it. You then learn that the Spainards and Germans were also after this statue during the time that your grandfather was looking for it, thus the Nazi reference. Thats it really.

And all you see of the Nazi's is a crashed war ship with a few Nazi corpses here and there...

Yes, it says that Nathan finds an old Movie Reel about how the Nazi's seeked for this statue during WWII. Thats where I got mixed up.

Well if Spaniards and the indigenous people are who you're fighting then it kind of makes sense, after all Indy fought natives, and Spain is looking for the statue.

If anything it's discriminating against the Nazi's, they weren't even smart enough to make it to the island alive.

Well then that changes... nothing. That seems like the typical ethnic make-up of random deckhands and such in movies and books.

I'm gonna go with "No more racist than usual." To me that's not at all, it's authentic(much like Indy). To others, it may be racist.
