Stuff to buy in Japan

Hello all,

I'm currently on holiday in Japan and it's great. One thing I've noticed is there loads of strange stuff you can buy here. My friend suggested that I should buy some Japanese goods whilst I'm here and sell them for a profit when I return to the UK if I'm clever. Unfortunately I know nothing about manga and anime but she said people on this site might know what would be good to buy.

So, do you? What would you buy from Japan to sell whilst back in the UK? Not just manga related but other items as well if you know anything.

I'm not sure of anything in particular but anything that is unusual or different, in a cool way.
I'd look for colourful and bright things, too.

It might be a good idea to ask this in the Japanese Section since a few residents there are not very active in other places of the forum and many of them live in or have been to Japan.

I can't think of anything specific but you should definitely consider checking out a nearby Don Quixote store. It's a discount store that sells basically anything and there's a lot of weird things you can buy for a relatively low price.

Some items I know that would probably sell would be anime-themed items, such as clear files and shitajiki (pencil boards). Especially on eBay, these items sell for a lot of profit.I would pretty much look around for some popular anime/manga titles, and buy items related to that.

Also, Dr. Grip pencils are a good thing to buy in Japan. Lots of people know about these pencils and you usually can make a profit off of them, especially if you can find special collector editions or ones besides the usual colors.

I would also check around for CDs. Artists like Arashi are very popular, and expensive, if bought outside of Japan. Popular Japanese artists often have DVDs of their concerts as well.

Don't forget about the possible duty payment when you enter your country. Dunno what's the limit you can import for UK, I suggest you to check that out! Importing foreign stuff in EU isn't cheap ~_~

What part of Japan are you in? I heard good things about Mandarkae in Shibuya, Tokyo. The people that work there dress in cosplay and are very helpful

You should hit up the smart shop. They have many psychoactive goods, some that are schedule 1 in the US.

Maybe a pretty sensu fan, if you hate the heat. Some high quality sake, and also some anime, manga, merchandise or whatever else that is rare in the US. I bet you can make a ton of money selling stuff like that on ebay or wherever.

Fried Larval Bees in Vinegar for the win. Nothing says ANIMU SCUM like eating insects from Japan. People be lineing up around the block for that stuff.

Also, find some good engrish. Everyone loves engrish.

I've never been to Japan, and it is possible to buy Pocky in the US (I'm not sure about the UK), but wouldn't it be cool to buy Pocky with a Japanese box?
It's delicous...
