Feel like you don't have real friends?

First off, AF, so you guys remember me?
It's been nearly two months since I logged on, and about four since I think I last posted.

Anyways...
Do you guys here ever feel like you don't have any real friends that support you? I have one out of school, but in school, I'm miserable.

I have a few friends, but only about two who I would ever think to call me. But only for homework help, and nothing else.

I'm a loner, and it makes me feel bad about myself. My "friends" wouldn't invite me to a party or anything... they just share laughs with me.
I've missed out on two parties so far, and maybe another two.

I've been invited to a party once... but still...

Anybody else feel this way?
Is there any hope for my future...?

But yeah, I really know how you feel! I feel also that my friends are just there for the laughs and small talk, all my friends don't like what I like, so it's sort of weird...

My friends go to parties all the time, but I dont go, because whenever I do, its probably one of the most awkward hours of my life. Plus I'm too shy to talk, boys talk to me, but when they do, I don't know what to say. >.<

All in all I know how you feel ! There's hope, you just got to meet the right people I think!

As for the topic, I have one best friend who I talk to every day. Never even had an argument with her. Then I have about 20 other "friends" that are like friends you talk to during classes and joke around with at school buutt you never really assosiate outside of school.

There is still hope for you, you just have to figure out who seem to have similar interests and are trustworthy friends. Observe people in your school. =/

i dont really talk to anyone who i used to hang with in elementary school or junior high... but all my highschool friends i still hang with...
and if you go to college youll make even more friends there for sure...maybe.

PS: omg you missed 2 partys!! get over it... i didnt start partying till the age of like 15... and i do and dont suggest it... at almost everyparty that isnt a birthday or family party there will be these horrible but great things called drugs...so just focus on school fool...

PSS: remember this is a technological age so feel free to call people online friends... lots of people out there do it(easiest place to find people with same interests as you)...

I still remember you too. As for te thread, I do sometimes feel the same way, especially at school, but I do have one fairly good friend at school who I talk to in the mornings and a best friend who goes to school, but he's not in high school yet. As long as I have my best friend, I'm fine with it though.^^;

haha I'm going to have an emo moment so bare with me. I live in a small town. My school is gr7-12 and has just about 300 students..soi know everyone in my grade, 11 btw. I also know majority of the people in the grade above and below. Now I have 3 friends. The one talks to me during class and on msn, but will ignore me at breaks . the other will talk to me only when she feels like it (meaning in class and when no one else is around...where she just looks off in the distance looking for her freinds to show up). the other will talk to me any time, but refuses to be nice to me in the presence of his better friends. So I can be ignore or treated poorly. Fun time or what.

I always being a loner....so I see every one as a potential friend, and always be nice to everybody.... O_O but never hangs out with them....I really really really really appreciate my solitude...all through my years I avoided having friends...I was taught that they were a drag....and will only slow you down...but if any case some one needed a lift when down you should give it to them, and show yourself as a friend...and make them a potential but never label them as best friends, sister, brother or what not till you are sure they will put a bullet for you....and guess what I found out that is hard to come by a situation when a person wants to shoot you...hahahah but really.... I do not or label people as friends....but I do label myself as one...I will help any one....I am so nice that I give my hand and my whole arm has being cut....and that hurts...it makes you think how fool you can be....but is good since I never thought of them as friends my emotional state does not suffer to the extreme except for the part that being nice gets you in trouble if you are not smart enough to know what is coming next....people take advantage and who would not....but they should know better that we hardly know who is the puppet and who is the puppeteer. Maybe it is the way I was raised or the experience I had in the past.... but I am 21 and now I can say for sure I have one friend....and to tell you the truth I do not really need more...but I am a friend for many people because they can count me for an emergency....I will be there just because I can...and will, sometimes i wonder if I am too much of a fool to help people.

Of course there's hope for your future, silly! Perhaps the people you've been socializing with just aren't right for you. Go to places you enjoy and bring up conversation with someone- it's amazing how quickly two people can get to talking, laughing, and becoming friends.

Perhaps there's a class you enjoy a lot? Maybe taking an art class? You can converse with those sitting near you.

Just don't think it's the end of possibilities, because there's so many different kinds available.

I hate the majority of people I meet and find social contact to be an unwaveringly tiresome and difficult task. So, naturally, I can understand how you feel. Not sure what to say if you want to try and fix it, though; I've been looking for an answer to that for years myself.

Just be more talkative. Don't be afraid on what you say, and if you say something wrong, apologize. Real friends are actually easy pickings x3 just know what they're interested in and jabber away.

I've always sayd "No" when someone asks me something, wants a favor or whatever and I'm never asking any help from anyone either.

Try to define a word "friend". It's just a person who you can "trust" (lawlz, biggest mistake you'll ever make!) so you can rely on them, someone with who you can share your thoughts, ideas (why would they be intrested?) someone who will help you (like they would..) and someone with who you can share your secrets, do stuff you like, party .. etc.

But now think about it - do you really need a friend? The answer is no.
No matter how good friends you are with someone, some day he/she WILL betray you, it's natural. So the best thing is to keep away from "friendly" people.
They are sick, useless maggots who are waiting for weak people who need friend(s).

I'm serious, humans do not need friends, this so called "friendship" is just a word. Nothing less and nothing more.

Well, i m lucky having best friend online. He's from Vietnam.Though, we don't chat regularly but whenever i find myself in problem, i just talk to him and he solved it in a very better way.

Honestly I'd say friends can be very overrated. Just be happy doing whatever you're doing, if you get friends because of it, wonderful, if you don't, wonderful. No point trying to make people like you.

I've been moving from country to country for most of my life (every two to three years or so I'd have to move to a different continent, make new friends with entirely different people; sometimes I could make friends, sometimes I couldn't) so I used to think about this a lot.

I'm not a very sociable person, to say the least, but also I can't completely agree with the "who needs friends, friendship is stupid" mentality. Maybe it's because I'm not mentally strong enough, but I know what being lonely feels like and it's pretty unpleasant. In that sense I think I understand what you mean.

As to answer your question, I'd say relax; even the best of friends can be strangers after a year or so, and vice versa, especially when you're so young. You never know.

I have a few classmates from highschool who all went to different colleges, a lot of whom I barely talked to in high school and all whom I rarely see now, (some stayed in town, some are in Tokyo and a few in Osaka), but every couple of months or so we get together for a drink, play video games or watch anime until the morning and sleep on each other's floors, or go fishing in our home town. We're not inseperatable, "known each other since kindergarden" bonded buddies, and I don't know if we'll even invite each other to our weddings, but I find the relationship comfortable, and it suits me.

I like to think it's the loose associations like this that you make with people that matter the most in life, not the sweaty kind of friendship like you see in the movies or read in the books per se. If you ask me, people who hate people are giving too much and expecting too much in return.

I think you are putting too much emphasis on friendship. You have to realise that being humans, no one is capable of being perfect. No one friend out there will be a good friend to you no matter what, it's far too high of an expectation.

My Friends and I get along absolutely fine.
I can easily place trust in my friends we all get along awesomly awesome. We had a relationship similar to the Azumanga Daioh Girls. In which case I would have deffinetly had to of been Osaka for my stupidness, dumbness and randomness. Or maybe Chiyo-Chan for my well-known small size.

But anyway, just ditch those fickle friends and get some awesome new ones. Turn into the Silent Type like me, that way people will never 100% fully understand you so they cannot really hate you. Thats what I do but whenever I did say something it was either really nice or really funny, that way I was just known and am known to be a really nice and funny guy. ^-^

With most people they have the 'filler' friends that they talk to once in a while but that's it.

Usually you're only really have less than 3 intimate friends that they actually have a worthwhile friendship with.

Usually I have always moved shortly after making some good friends, so I've always been more of a loner myself. I think it's really good to have friends if you can make them, but when you get older it really won't be that important.
