I'm talking bands like Rites of Spring, Envy, Drive Like Jehu, Cap'n Jazz, Moss Icon, and so forth. If you aren't hip to the real scene, don't post. I don't want to hear about lame pop acts.

All the bands you've listed are great! Excellent tastes! At The Drive-In are good, give them a shot. Also Heaven In Her Arms, I've just recently discovered them for myself. Not exactly the same kind of music as Cap'n Jazz or Moss Icon, but still pretty damn good, and they're the closest thing I could find to Envy.

I've heard and love At The Drive-In. I sport the entire catalogue. I wouldn't say they're part of the emo/emocore scene though.


Also, pretty much anything Cap'n Jazz related (including early The Promise Ring) is fair game. Joan of Arc for the absolute win. They more than transcend the emo tag.

I see. Those bands are the roots of emo as the metalheads speaKc", The whole emo scene is gay. I listen to some without telling anyone unless they've asked specifically for it. It's like a skeleton in the closet I dont wanna talk about anymore. Emo peepz are being killd' aRound hereXD

None of those are emo bands, aiglos. Incidently, they also have no talent.


And the whole emo scene doesn't suck. Most of the real emo/screamo bands are actually better than punk bands. There's a hell of a lot going on.


Also, City of Caterpillar is primo stuff.

That's a good list. That pretty much sums up the bands that have that sort of tone. I'd say Mono, but that falls exclusively into post-rock. They do sound like Envy at times though.

CoC rule, but Saetia are the most important emo band ever, seeing as how they pretty much invented D.C. Springtime music. Check out Of The Fallen Black, too.
