Anime in HD?

Anyone know what older series might be showing up in HD? I've heard rumors of Cowboy Bebop, Akira, and some others. But I'm wondering if a lot of the older shows weren't created in SD format, can they even get any benefit in HD?

Not sure if I even want to upgrade my entire collection, but maybe a few I'd try.

All HD is is just a higher resolution and 5.1 audio so I doubt older series will be running in HD because of the amount of effort required to do so. Several newer anime are being released in HD so I'm guessing it will be the norm in 2008.
