Actually Yahoo and MSN have already been interlinked. I actually don't see them getting rid of Yahoo or forcing MSN on anyone considering how much more market share Yahoo has than MSN. And actually, its Google who is slowly becoming a threat, because when someone becomes this powerful in one area, dollar signs start to distract.
The only thing is, right now governments are so anti-Microsoft that any arguments that they make to keep Google from becoming too huge backfires. I love Google, but I am afraid that one day they will find a way to start alienating people.
Theres no way AOL gains anything from this since AOL can't seem to pull themselves out of the hole their in. If Time Warner does what they plan and break things up, you could see someone buying AOL in the near future too.
And Google would not try for, nor do they need Yahoo, and I think the Microsoft deal will go through, but it'll take one hell of a plan for them to make a dent in Google.
Thats just my opinion based on things I've read around the internet as well as my own thoughts mixed in.
