i cant help but wonder why in most magical girl animes the main guy who's usually a minor lives alone in a house or with another women,sister,relative,etc the same age. i mean how do kids afford houses like in rozen maiden,girls bravo and others like that. do they have some special system or something in japan were kids can afford houses?

In Rozen Maiden, Jun and Nori's parents are overseas so I'm quite sure they have their kids financially situated.

In Kamikaze Katiou Jeanne, Maron lives alone as well but her parents send her money...so...yeah.

Why the child lives alone is usually in order to make their strange goings-on more convienent to hide from their parents.

On another note, I wouldn't classify Rozen Maiden OR Girls Bravo as "Magical Girl" anyway.

Basically.. That's what anime can do. I mean doing something that most of us, could not probably do at all. Transformation, kid turning into some magical girl collecting cards, turning into an adult and so on, name it and they could probably do it.
But I guess why there are lots of animes like that is to make the story more.. err.. interesting or such?

Take a look a Automatron Mahoromatic, the guys parents are both dead and he lives by himself. But then again his father was a military commander, so the money shouldn't be a problem.

I think you're not meant to really look at it compared to reality in Japan. Most of the time, it helps emphasis the characters lonliness, or that their physical and emotional growth isn't going anywhere.

In girls bravo, maburaho, and school days (may not be a harem but idk.), all the main chars are minors who live alone.

In 95% of such anime,it's usually explained in some none-main event how,and why they live like that...
Paying attention to each sentence,and remembering the side event are usually the key to solution of your question...
