So what do you all think about the shows Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis?

Well, my favourite character from the SG-1 series is Teal'c, played by Christopher Judge.

It's honestly not all that good. With SG-1 I can't shake that feeling I'm watching an USAF recruitment tape, and they have a nasty habit of blatantly ripping technology from other sci-fi shows and just adopting it without any technobabble to explain why it works. I WANT MY TECHNOBABBLE. I want polaron bursts and reversing tetryon polarity, not it "uh... can't you settle with it works like in star trek or something." It got an upswing when they borrowed some Farscape characters (Ben Browder and Claudia Black), making it slightly amusing, but then it got cancelled.

Atlantis is watchable. Nothing groundbreaking though.

But that aside, Stargate the sereis started out strong, but now it has grown rather weak and watered down (e.g. everything in the galaxy now speaks american, no more other languages - and the story is really turning into "SG1 save all of creation - yet again -- ok once, but 3 times and it starts to get repetative)
I have not seen more than the odd episode of Atlantis - but my view is that they are trying to milk a dry cow - they either need a new program entirly or totally upgrade the elements within

That's another thing that bugs the hell out of me. They offer no explanation why everyone, not only in one galaxy, but FOUR GALAXIES (Milky Way, Atlantis-galaxy, Ori-galaxy, Asgard-galaxy) speaks modern American English. Star Trek has universal translators, Doctor Who has the TARDIS psychically translating, Hitchiker's guide has babelfishes, Babylon 5 has English as language of commerce; what does Stargate do? It ignores the issue completely. That's just rude!

Well i love it! i have all of the seasons on DVD! except for the Atlantis ones, i don't like Atlantis very much at all.

Well i forgot all about SG1 when Riddik started kiking armored arse in a world where TECHNOBABBLE does not exist at all.

I've heard of it, but never watched much of it. I'm sorry to all Stargate fans, but I never enjoyed it...just, not my cup of tea.

I, personally, liked SG-1 best when it was at it's height of being the USAF's covert war against the snakes. The exploration theme? Other shows do it better. However, I liked the tense, machine-gun-versus-staff-blasters shootouts, I liked F-302 against Death Glider dogfights, basically I liked the military aspect.

They wrapped up every storyline in the end of Season 8.

And then they made Season 9. And I stopped watching, except for Episode 200.

I tried. So help me, I TRIED. I just CAN NOT CARE ABOUT EITHER SERIES. It's like the live-action equivalent of the Gundam universe for me(I can't bring myself to become interested in it). The only difference is I actually LIKE Gundam. I have never been more apathetic towards anything in my life than I am Stargate.

Stargate is a plague. I think I managed to watch the movie and half an episode of SG1. No more should be expected of any man.
